I suspect that some of the negative reviews below pre-date the stewardship of the current affable Canadian owner, Ross Hamilton. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well-situated by the main pier. Breakfasts are well-prepared and offer a good choice of locally-sourced product. We found the prices very reasonable for July in the Highlands. Give it a go. more

Managed to book a double room at short notice for a one night stay - cannot understand the poor reviews - the room was fine, the staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely marvellous - and all great value. Deduct one star because the room could certainly do with sprucing up but we would definitely go back more

We tried the Haven Inn for diner one evening because the restaurant we were referred to was booked. I'm glad they were, because we ate here both nights we were in Plockton. We ate in the bistro, and the food was great. The owners visited the table and treated everyone as their personal guest. The menu varies with local meat... more

The Haven hotel in Plockton was very dissapointing, for £90 a night you may expect a clean room and some service. The place is run by school children, the rooms have seen better days in the 1960's, the bathroom had an interesting collection of mould, not all lights where working, the guttering was shot so water ran against the window,... more

Been before and couldn't imagine it being as bad - it was. A complete rip off. Lousy hotel, lousy rooms, lousy food, lousy service, inordinately high prices. Avoid..... more

This hotel is obviously poorly run. I'm ashamed to say I actually stayed there! The over-night service was good but we seen that the housekeepers were a bunch of probably under-paid teenagers, the words slave labor come to mind! The food service was barely satisfactory and the waitress (From somewhere like Poland or Ukraine) was very rude and pushy. She... more

We did not stay here but ate here one night as everywhere else in Plockton was full. No-one came to the bar/desk for 15 minutes when we first walked in off the street. We were informed by the waitress it was a REALLY busy evening (there were 2 couples in the front room and we were the only ones out... more

Plockton is such a lovely place to visit and we enjoyed our stay at The Haven Hotel. We had a lovely view and they accommodated us with an extra bed as we are a family of 4. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The furniture and accessories in the room are old but we liked the change from modern... more

Sounded wonderful on telephone, Oh how deceptive can voices be. Room equipped with lots of electrical things all plugged into 1 socket, still I suppose I would have complained if there had not been a hairdryer. Bathroom clean and functional whole place needs a lot os TLC. Guess it only gets by on a still remembered (by the OAPS) TV... more
