If you are headed toward Durness in the highlands of Scotland, this is a lovely place to stop. It is actually in Melness and sits just up from the ragged coastline. The views are spectacular from the road. The menu is extensive and seems to me mostly local. and they do have outside seating. The presentation is lovely and the... More

Very nice cosy, typical Highland Hotel/pub with excellent food and reasonable prices given the remote location . I cannot understand the negative reviews, you cannot compare a little hotel in the highlands with hotels in main city centres. The welcome, food and views in the area are superb and the hotel also does a cheaper takeaway menu which the local community... More

Warm welcome on entering this small hotel from our hostess Kate, who showed us to our room. The room was immaculately clean, with a very comfortable double bed.Yes the bathroom was shared but we knew that on booking, but never had to wait. The views from the hotel were amazing, We enjoyed a 3 nights stay and went down to a... We ended up at this "hotel" on our way to visit some friends that live locally. We called in for a bite to eat before we got to our friends house to save them having to feed us' Thankfully we weren't staying here. On pulling into the car park we thought we had come to the wrong place as the... More

Me and my boyfriend stopped for one night casue it was a perfect location in between our destinations. The room was small but very cosy and warm. Even though the radiators weren't working there was an electrical heater that made our room very warm! Shared bathroom but was not a problem at all for us. Need to add that was... More

Fortunately my husband and I only stopped the one night. Yes the views are wonderful and are in a lot of scotland. We arrived on a cold wet afternoon to find no heating on in our room or anywhere in the hotel, also it was one of the smallest ?double rooms ever seen, there was a double bed,one bedside table,one... Spotlessly clean, quite charming and cosy. Beautiful views of the North sea/Atlantic ocean. Dinner was fantastic, you've really got to try the oysters. The bathroom is shared among 4 rooms which makes the morning hour quite busy. Had some trouble with Booking.com. On the day of checkout was told by Kate from the hotel that she had actually not received... More
