What a lovely find, great friendly staff, lovely rooms, suberb food, it was so worth the journey to visit this hotel. We used the hotel as a stop over while touring the north and west of Scotland, could have easily stayed longer had time allowed.

We found this hotel to be clean with excellent hosts. Food was absolutely brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Bedrooms were very comfortable and decorated to a high standard. Other hotels could learn a lot from David and Lorraine. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

Nice enough hotel, I agree it is a 'bit tired' and our room was very hot being in the attic. Bathroom bit dated, shower awful. Nice, friendly staff, food amazing, enjoyed every part 3 course meal, only thing, they asked if I wanted water on my table to which I said yes and got charged £4, a bit steep for... More

This is another tired hotel. I won't go into to much detail but let's just say we had to ask them to clean the toilet. Which they did and they did say there were sorry, but if you look round the bathroom there was body hair from other guests. The evening meal was to a very good standard in fact... More

Stayed 2 nights here in a Superior room. The room was large and we had views in 3 directions as our Superior room was at the far side of the house. The nicest view was of the tower ruin, on a hill behind the hotel. The room was clean and had electric heaters which was useful as this area can... More

This was our second stop on a tour around Scotland on our bikes. We arrived at the hotel around 5 and found safe on site parking for all the bikes. We booked in and was taken to the rooms by the very friendly staff. Very large and clean room with a bath and shower in our room and just a... More

What a relief to arrive here after a dreadful rainy day! A lovely welcome at this hotel. Full of elegant furniture plus modern updating too. We stayed in room 18 "Lady Claire". Huge room with wonderful views. Complementary sherry awaited us, a nice touch. Very comfy and immaculately clean. Wi-fi in the rooms would be very helpful if, like us,... More

Stayed 2 nights earlier this week, excellent room, good food and very helpful and friendly staff. The bar has a great selection of malts! Although the food was good I did think it was a little expensive but as the location is a bit remote this is to be expected.

Dear Boxerdogman It is pleasing to read that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay with us - we do indeed have an excellent selection of Scottish malt whiskies! We appreciate that you thought the food and service was good. Certainly our very rural location means that everything delivered has a high levy upon it however we also do our... More

The hotel is unassuming from the outside but very good inside. The Victorian decor and furniture have been retained, giving the hotel a nice period feel, however modern comforts have been provided as well. Service is friendly and efficient. We stayed two nights and both breakfast and dinner were of a high standard. Our twin room was very large and... More

Dear John R The team here were delighted to read your kind words and positive regard for the hotel. We are happy to know that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay. I didn't stay in this hotel but I stopped for lunch on my way out to Durness The place itself is exactly how you imagine a Victorian hunting lodge to be: creaking grandeur, tartan carpets and steps and stairs all over the place. Service was friendly and efficient in the small dining room with stunning views over the Kyle of... More
