There was a stunning view from the dining room were we had a lovely meal. Staff were friendly and polite in all areas of the hotel. We had a quiet night sleep in a clean, warm room. Breakfast was cooked to order and very tasty. My mobile did not work on the WiFi which was no great loss

This hotel was very nice, especially the view. The food is very good, we had diner and breakfast and the staff lovely. Our room was clean and spacious. The WiFi only works in the lobby and lounge. The shower though will need to be change. It has no pressure and it's hard to find the right temperature. Even so, we... More

Friendly and helpful staff, although not burdened by a corporate training culture that transforms them into "have a nice day/ you're welcome" clones. I ate in the restaurant and was happy with the service, menu range and quality of the food. Excellent walking country - I guess the cool climate suits good hill climbs!

Had an evening meal at the Ben Loyal. We didn't stay in this hotel.Food was average and service was ok. I wouldn't say it's the best meal I've had but it was one of the only reasonable places to eat in Tongue. We stayed in a B&B nearby and it was easy to find on foot. Overall a nice place... More

The tiny hamlet of Tongue, perched on the desolate far north coast of Scotland, is about as far from civilisation as you can get in the UK, so I was lucky to be able to find a hotel there at all, let alone one as jolly and welcoming as this. There are around ten rooms above a bustling pub/restaurant which... More

We cycled from Inverness to Tongue and arrived cold, wet and tired. We could not have enjoyed a more pleasant welcome to the Ben Loyal. The staff were great. Our rooms were tidy and spacious. The bar was inviting and relaxed and both our evening meal and breakfast were great. I would recommend a stay here.

Quaint hotel, but needs modernising without losing charm and the shower was awful, could not regulate the temperature and pour pressure and after getting soaked walking to Sandwood Bay, a decent shower was a must! However the food was lovely, especially the local smoked salmon and kippers for breakfast. Nice view from restaurant/lounge. Poor wifi.

Small hotel in the Northwest Highlands with great views, room was above the bar and there was some noise ( this was not pointed out until we arrived). Food was ok but menu promised much more, just average in total.

What a wonderful place for a comfortable stay! The room was tidy although a bit cramped. The bed was comfy. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Convenient to Ben Hope and Loyal hiking. Not far from the Strathnaver Trail. The pub was welcoming and a great place to meet guests and locals.
