The room was most spacious and well appointed with more than you would require, and the view from the Gold Room window was breathtaking. Cross Keys Pub in Ancrum was a perfect recommendations for the first night, and Burts in Melrose, the second night, was excellent We stayed two nights and found it centrally located for day drives to Kelso,... more

Avoid this place very bad experience here... the owners have ABSOLUTELTY NO IDEA OF CUSTOMER SERVICE BREAKFASTS WERE FRANKLY disgusting and the towels looked as though they had seen the 20000 quick washes over the last 80 years .... next time if there is no other room available in Jedburgh we wd rather sleep in a public toilet than here... more

We have just spent 3 wonderful nights at Ancrum Craig. We had the gold room with a spacious bay window looking out onto open countryside. The view was so stunning that we did not close the curtains and woke to beautiful sunrises. We were welcomed with tea and biscuits by the log fire in the drawing room. Breakfasts were carefully... more

As newlyweds, my husband and I stayed at Ancrum Craig over Valentine's weekend this year. We stayed in the Gold Room, which is a huge and beautifully decorated room with a modern bathroom attached. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a lovely surprise in a house filled with such impressive period features! The Borders was covered in snow when... more

We stayed at Ancrum Craig for a long weekend while attending a wedding nearby. We had a great reception and a lovely room. The open fires in the living room and free wifi were unexpected bonuses. Would thoroughly recommend it - in fact, we've already booked for a group of us to visit at Easter! more

Back in Stockholm after a fifth (!) stay at Ancrum Craig. And we have already made a reservation for next year! As usual Jills and Johans hospitality has been wonderful and the breakfasts were even better than remembered. The Gold Room has been redecorated without loosing it's lovely soul, the new bathroom is exquisite. After a superb meal at the... more

From the moment we arrived at this wonderful victorian estate we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the rich countryside. Our room was large and had a spectacular view, and we found it most accomodating to have a sitting room and computer available. Our hosts were most gracious, and helped with special needs when our luggage did not arrive. This... more

I read all the reviews before booking and I have to say all of them accurately described the spendour of this small victorian Hotel. When we arrived we were shown into the drawing room where the log fire was lit and coffee served by Jill the owner. What a welcome! We stayed in the gold room which has wonderful views... more

Ancrum Craig, what a find. The house is set in the most tranquil area overlooking magnificent views. I wanted to celebrate my birthday doing something completely different and I had never been to this part of Scotland before. I was not disapointed. The owners were extremely friendly, and very organised, there was plently of information regarding places to visit and... more
