Myself and my husband stayed here for one night recently on our way to visit family in Nottinghamshire. Everything about it was perfect - afternoon tea when we arrived, a delicious evening meal cooked by Margaret and served by Tony and breakfast in the morning, not to mention the room itself. It shines through how much they enjoy what they... More

My wife and I stayed with Margaret and Tony for 1 night. Summarized: friendly, super hosts, great place, nice rooms, excellent food. We were offered a place for our Harley Davidson in their garage, nice and comfortable. Absolutely a great place when driving back to the ferry in Newcastle, when you start your Scottish holiday or just when you are... More

We have travelled all over UK and now Scotland and stayed at many B&B's and this would have to be the best so far. Margaret & Tony are delightful hosts, the breakfasts are to "die for". We are only sorry we couldn't stay longer! However we will be back in the not too distant future. Bless you both.

We had a wonderful time with Margaret and Tony. The room was gorgeous, and the food and the chat were second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, with Margaret even making us a packed lunch. Margaret and Tony were excellent hosts. Stay here, you won't regret it.

This was our second stay with Margaret and Tony, and hopefully not our last. We stayed for over a week and ate in many times, enjoying Margaret's home cooking every time. A long, relaxed breakfast, chosen from a long breakfast menu the night before, and the good conversation that goes with it is a feature of a stay here. Bedrooms,... More

What a great find , the house and grounds are beautiful. It is great to find a good biker friendly B+B on a popular bike touring route. With the added bonus of great hosts and secure garage parking. We both enjoyed the stay very much and would like to thank you for your hospitality . We will be recommending you to... More

Margaret and Tony were incredibly hospitable making for a very enjoyable stay. Margaret cooked an excellent dinner. We were attending the book festival in Melrose and this B&B is within easy distance of that event.

What a find! Margaret and Tony welcome guests, no matter how late their arrival, with sherry in the bedroom and tea and coffee in the residents lounge. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully themed, full of interesting objects, and the beds very comfortable. We arrived too late for dinner, but other guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Margaret and... More

As regular visitors to the School House on our visits to and from the north of Scotland, we have come to recognize the consistency and excellence that Tony and Margaret bring to the art of really hospitable and welcoming accommodation provision for visitors to Scotland. This is the gold standard in B & B accommodation to which all others should... More

Stayed here for a night recently. Amazing setting and one of the best B & B's or hotels we have stayed in anywhere. Loved Tony & Margaret. Breakfast the next day was authentic and homely. Would definitely recommend a visit for anyone in Edinburgh. Not to be missed.
