Family weekend away we booked for Sunday lunch at the hotel. A party of around 22 adults and children. Staff seemed uninterested and agitated at our arrival. When we ordered we asked could the children get a small roast dinner and were told yes. Orders were taken and starters arrived, good so far (scallops and bacon were really good). As... More

We arrived for the Valentine Weekend DBB deal at The Portaferry Hotel on the Saturday to notice the front window boarded up with planks of wood. On arriving in reception I noticed the decor had slipped somewhat with nails on the walls and pictures apparently missing - which I found quite strange. As part of the deal we were to... More

It was a long time since I was out for Sunday Lunch and longer since I had it in The Portaferry Hotel. First surprise was it was in the nice comfortable dinning room. The food was excellent (especially the Crab Claw starter) and George as usual gave first class service.

We didn't have high expectations having noticed that cute cafes were think on the ground on the approach to Portoferry. However, stop we did, and we were pleasantly surprised. A warm welcome, attentive service and a lovely cream scone with our tea. An old fashioned place with old fashioned values. Very nice.

This is a quaint hotel, the building is old, so the rooms are small but Impeccably clean. We stayed 2 nights and had breakfast and dinner. All meals were a very high standard and the service was outstanding. The staff ensure that every need is met. We travelled in the ferry to strangford and toured the Down coast, absolutely lovely... I took my husband who has Alzheimers and is now in a care home just 2 miles along the coast from Portaferry, on a surprise date here for dinner and a night out. They have some special dinner, bed and breakfast offers, and if you phone them rather than book online, you may get more offers! The room was quite... More

Went there recently for a much-needed escape. We stayed one night and the room was great. Views lovely. We like good cocktails and they made a great strawberry daiquiri! Dinner was great - we had all fish dishes. The location can't be beaten and we took full advantage the next day by going over to Strangford on the ferry and... More
