We stayed in the old part which meant large room, high ceiling, windows high up and dark, tired furnishing made the room quite dark. The staff were friendly, breakfast was good and the evening meal was reasonable if not memorable. We had decided that we had to stay in one parador during our 5 weeks round Spain but they all... The Parador Principe de Viana is located in the old royal palace on the Plaza Teobaldos. This lively square is where locals enjoy the shade of the trees during the afternoon. All that remains of the old palace are the walls. Gothic windows from 1414 remain where once there was a hall in which the royal court convened. At the... More

We stayed here one night a few weeks ago on our way to the Rioja region from Barcelona. We loved staying in a castle. The rooms were nice-sized, with free WiFi, and the bathrooms were very spacious. The next morning, we explored the castle - it's definitely worth spending a morning or afternoon exploring the town. The restaurant was good,... More

Nice hotel, large rooms, checked in early which was handled well and without fuss. We had ordered a double but got 2 singles pushed together , as we had checked in early I thought this ok. Rooms a little tired but generally ok, although I had to request slippers for the room. Meal was good and good value on a... More

Stayed here on our drive to Barcelona from France. Lovely hotel. We opted for a room in the newer section, although rooms were available in the portion that was at one time the castle for a slightly higher rate. Staff was very accommodating. The only slight issue is driving up to the front door, as the majority of the historic... More

This is a really old building which has been refurbished in the old style. We had 3 rooms next to each other, all with balcony facing the road, a Franciscan Monastry and it's vineyard, very nice. The sound proofing in the Parador was excellent so we were not troubled by the traffic. All rooms are air conditioned with comfortable twin... More

Medieval hotel built in castle off main town square surrounded by vineyards. Epic location and surrounds. Rooms are classic but a little tired, thought room rate was a bit expensive for what you get to be honest. Solid wifi and they have us brekky even after it had closed! Recommend but see if you can negotiate rate down under 150... More

Stayed in this Parador after having stayed at others in Spain. Each has its unique factors and pros and cons. For this area of Spain and on our way up to France, the place hit the spot. It is very difficult to find double rooms in Spain (or some of Europe for that matter) for 4 people. So having found... More

We stayed here because we attended a wedding reception here. We loved the place and service and room but we, and others in our group, had erratic or no wifi on our phones and iPads in our rooms and elsewhere - such as Reception. The staff were under the impression it was AOK and had it checked by Madrid support... More

Spectacular entrance off town square, within fortified wall. Friendly receptionist who advised best place for motor bike parking. Welcome drinks voucher issued for bar. Standard room with two twin beds side by side. Not really enough space for the coffee table and two chairs which were provided. Nice view from room over country side. Large (enough) LCD TV (all Spanish... More
