The booking pictures were spectacular. Driving up to it was even more spectacular. The castle fortress was spectacular from the outside and inside. The vaulted dining room romantic. The food very good and the service very good. The rooms were spacious and clean. We plan to return on our next visit to Catalan.

What a place to spend a night (or two)! We were travelling as a family and were put into two somewhat secluded rooms with the view into the courtyard. One of our rooms had a lovely four-poster bed and both were nice and clean. Dinner was truly lovely: food was great and the service very professional.

Let me begin with the positives. Each member of the limited staff we came across seemed to be doing the work of 2 persons. The staff at the restaurant and front desk were attentive, helpful and applied common sense. For example, during breakfast one waiter brought us a pot of chocolate dip (instead of a cup) for our churros when... More

This is one of the best Paradors, in setting, upkeep. Our room was large, clean, great view, reasonably well appointed. The restaurant had better service than most of Spain, and food above average. This historical location is not to be missed, and with this Parador being in such good shape, don't pass it up if the opportunity arises. Some Paradors... More

You can be the princess for a night at this hotel. You literally are in the castle that you dreamed about! Yes, it is not easy way to get there if you do not have a car, but you can take a bus from the center bus station in Barcelona. The room is very charming and the furniture is very... More

Stayed here for a night travelling back into France from the south of Spain. Always fascinating to stay in a building which dates back over a 1000 years. Booked the stay under the amigos gastronomy package. Booked a superior room which ended up being a suite, large, clean and very comfortable. The reception was friendly, and the evening meal a... This was our first time staying in a castle hotel and we found the experience to be a delight. The site is impressive with an interesting history and the castle is interesting to explore. Our room was well appointed and spacious. The window was quite small (although we did not expect otherwise) and the country view pleasant. Dinner was average... More

stayed here 1 night on way from France down to Costa Blanca. The hotel sits right on top of a hill & is quite impressive but the views, although extensive, are not pretty. There is a massive mountain pile of salt to look at, where they are trying to flatten it & move the salt to other areas. This has... More

We stayed here for one night and were rather disappointed. We expected more luxury and exclusivity for the price we paid. The reception staff was not friendly or helpful at all. You can tell they are paid by the government. The morning we left, we had no hot water. We were told to leave the tap running but half an... More

We have stayed at several Paradors during our past cycling adventures in Spain and always been welcomed and well looked after. Not sure if the reception staff were having a bad day or they just don't like guests turning up on bikes, but we were not made welcome - a smile costs nothing... Although we paid full price and didn't... More
