We have stayed at several Paradors during our past cycling adventures in Spain and always been welcomed and well looked after. Not sure if the reception staff were having a bad day or they just don't like guests turning up on bikes, but we were not made welcome - a smile costs nothing... Although we paid full price and didn't... More

This stunning castle atop a small hill has amazing views over the surrounding countryside . The rooms are delightful as is the overall ambience . However , I was disappointed with the evening meal I had . Not only was the fish stew tasteless , but the following few days I suffered with a nasty gastro bug. This may have... More

High atop the hill in a former castle and monastery, this state-run Parador has taken a historic building and made it into a luxury hotel. Rooms are spacious, especially the all-marble bathrooms. Wifi makes it to the rooms and all one needs is available. Restaurant is typical of Paradors, perhaps a bit better.

This castle parador commands an amazing view over the town and surrounding countryside. Rooms are spacious, well appointed and the public areas are very comfortable. Only downside is accessing the hotel by car which requires some skill in negotiating the final driveway. Food in the restaurant is no more than adequate, but the overall experience of staying here is good.

The drive up to this hotel to check in is the most intimidating I have ever encountered. You wind your way uphill along a small street with the Castle turned parador looming above you. If you look up you can see the arrow holes and places where they can drop boiling oil down on your head if they wanted to... More

This parador is a castle on top of a steep hill overlooking the salt mine that brought wealth to the region for centuries. We found the room to be quite comfortable, and dinner and breakfast in the dining room quite satisfactory, especially considering the large number of guests, many of them families, that were being served. A special treat was... More

We visited spain and south france, and finished in Barcelona. About 1 hour from Barcelona there was this huge fortress with hotel inside it, part of the chain of paradores hotels across spain. The experience was great - very nice room with large bad, great views from the fortress, exclusive dinner within the walls. I highly recomend to all couples... More

The Parador is part of the castle dating back to 10th century. But rooms are 21st comfort and amenities. We loved it! Didn't have the room with the 4 poster or the 1 with the ghost though. Restaurant in vaulted 'ex chapel' type room was absolutely charming and food excellent. Buffet breakfast at € 10 if pre- booked was great... More

This was something I had looked forward to since 2009 when I stayed at the Parador at Aiguablava, and we were not disappointed with Cardona The setting is stunning, the building is amazing and the food was also really first class. The sleeping is easy as it is silent up there, the beds were the only slightly weak note, being... More

I stayed here for one night as part of a solo motorcycle trip around Spain. The building and the location of this Parador is amazing - this place really has presence - it even has its own ghost. The general areas and rooms were of a good quality and nicely presented. This Parador is still, in part, a public building... More
