Ex 16 th century palace. We weren't sure what to expect but, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Had a room facing the Main Street but, only sl noisy. Very clean room and comfortable beds. Main receptionist very friendly and helpful. Very nice breakfast included. Great value stay. Interesting town with lots quaint bars and restaurants. We would have stayed longer but,... More

I have stayed here each year for 25 years now and keep returning as this hotel offers good value over the much higher priced Paradores in the village. Hotel Altamira is centrally located the village is mainly car-free but one can drive past and park temporarily during the day to drop off luggage and then park close by on the... More

Small colonial style hotel, very well located, clean and almost totally satisfactory. Problems: many steps, no elevator. Breakfast, compared to other hotels visited, was not up to par. Nevertheless I must commend the two assistants at the restaurant who performed heart warming deeds to young English girls. Their names are Gema and Herminia. Kudos to both of them.

Old building refurbished into a luxury hotel. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Good wifi. Interesting architecture and decor, but if you are driving in, be careful about the narrow roads. Breakfast was included, but it had was only coffee, juice, breads, cheese and some fruits.

Fantastic, well run , traditional hotel/ villa in the heart of Santillana del mar. The town is so interesting and a wonderful size for exploring in a day! Accommodation was very comfortable and the people were most charming, especially the gentleman on duty during breakfast. He spoke good English so we could ask lots of questions. A lovely terrace to... More

Location is in the pedestrian zone so there was some walking involved to get to the place. Upon arrival you are overwhelmed by the old world beauty of the building with exposed brick and beams. But its age is showing in the noisy, creaky floors and very old fashioned furniture that is just adequate for your needs. The room door... More

The hotel is clean, the rooms are confortable lovely scenery and the location was excellent for seeing the city on the centre of a beautiful medieval village. Staff wasn´t very friendly except a young waiter Jaimes.

Excellent location for those who love to stay in the middle of an classic old Spanish village (mainly 17-19th century buildings). Popular town for Spanish tourists, you won't meet a lot of other nationalities which according to my preference, helps keeping the classic Spanish atmosphere. It is 5-6 minutes walking to the public parking (€2 per day) but you can... More

I was a little bit disappointed while driving toward this small town, once got out from the highway (an enormous industrial chemical plant) but, once arrived, everything changed. Delicious, old, well preserved historical buildings town, clean, full of any kind of shops and life, without cars (not allowed)! The hotel: old spanish style, like all the sorroundigs. A big and...
