Very good standard. We had a delux double on a corner on the third floor. The bed was excellent and so was the room. We also ate at the restaurant and found the food and service superb. If you are into staying at castle hotels then go here.

This castle on the hill is special. The views are remarkable, the few rooms make you feel special to be able to stay, and the food was excellent. Just not that many places where you can see frescoes on the walls from the Crusade time.

We stayed for 2 nights at Parador Alcaniz in November 2014. This is a lovely hotel with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The food in the restaurant was very good. I was most impressed however with the helpfulness of the staff in the reception area of the hotel. My sunglasses had broken and I asked the staff on the... More

We stayed at the Paradores Alcaniz in December 2014. If you enjoy staying in a castle, this is an excellent choice! It sits on top of the mountain in the city. The service, rooms, bar, and view were excellent! Staff were friendly, and the rooms were very comfortable. The views out over the city and surrounding area was outstanding. The... More

Our least favourite Parador to date. The staff seemed unhappy with their situation and service was not with a smile. The evening meal was disappointing, so much so that we decided to give breakfast a miss. The building is spectacular as you would expect, but the religious part of the complex was only open at certain times which we missed.... More

Stayed at 5 Paradors over the past 8 weeks and this was by far the best in terms of the people, their attitudes and attention to detail. The public areas are typically historic and the bar / dining room standouts for interior decoration. Menu in bar and restaurant extensive, tapas or racione sizes available in bar. Fixed menus good if... More

The position, accommodation, and food was excellent. The restaurant and breakfast rooms are charming with lovely gardens to sit in for a leisurely drink. The staff all speak English so there is no worry if you don't speak Spanish

If you like historic places ask for a room in the old part. I had room 212. Lovely views and unique windows. Comfortable large bed. Bathroom updated but felt old. Restaurant very plush and the food though expensive was beautiful. Displayed and tasted lovely with local features. The set menus were 30 -35 euros but worth it. Breakfast was the... More

I stayed at the Parador “Castillo de los Calatrava” for 2 nights. The hotel is located in the Baroque palace of the master of the castle. The castle that dates from the late 12th century was ceded to the Military Order of Calatrava by the King of Aragón. The chapel and keep preserve Gothic murals from the 14th and 15th... More

We were really impressed with the very sympathetic way that this Parador has been restored. Our bedroom was spacious and very comfortable with a balcony with great views. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. It is certainly a very special places to stay. T
