One can discover all the delights of the Chiemsee, Bavaria's Versaille "Herren Schloss", other delightful churches and Castles, boating, golf, skiing...Salzburg is 45 minutes- Munich an hour- a perfect place. The hotel is an old-fashioned place which could do with a bit of modernization but given the owner and the environment I doubt that this will take place anytime soon. Like the restaurant (see my separate review) the hotel has seen its glory days but the rooms are clean and well maintained. TV's are very small but they feature Pay... More

We stayed here on our way to Austria and thought it was superb - the only way it could have been better was if the weather had been better, but we can't blame the hotel for that. Things just happened without having to ask. The wine was kept from on evening to the next and was ready waiting for us,... More

This hotel was truly a 5-star luxury hotel in every way. Room was a good size, stylish with a mountain view, the bed and pillows were so soft and comfortable with the right degree of firmness that made you want to sink into and never get out of it. Plush and spacious bathroom with twin sink, abundant hot water, thick,... More

The Residenz is one of the very best hotels I have experienced in Europe. The hotel is delightful set in the lovely little village of Aschau. Accommodation was perfect , and my two level garden suite could not have been better. The hotel stars with its perfect staff and exceptional food. Dinner at night was an experience. Food was just... First class establishment! Huge bedrooms with sitting areas, great hiking trails right outside the door, and a Michelin starred restaurant! The town is adorable, but most people come for the food and the mountains. A cable car down the road transports you to the top. We hiked and watched hang gliders all day. Magical!

We spend a lovely night at RESIDENZ with a 5 course dinner which we purchased over GROUPON. It was to start with my fear, that we might be treated differently due to the fact that we have "cheaply" gained access to this Hotel through a coupon but NOTHING AT ALL. I believe the management diecided on offering the GROUPON deal,... More

Residenz Heinz Winkler is in a beautiful village setting at the base of the Alps, a one hour drive from Munich, not far from the main motorway on the way to Salzburg. We had a two night stay in June 2014 (room 209). The room was huge, the lounge area three times the size of the bedroom, the bathroom very... More

This is a nice property from the Relais & Châteaux group. The restaurant has 3 Michelin stars. Our gastronomic meal was excellent. The Grand Chef R & C, Mr. Heinz Winkler, is also the owner. He invented 'cuisine vitale' which combines culinary delights with wellness. He is very 'hands on' not only in his kitchen but throughout the hotel and... More
