We stayed four nights and were very well looked after. The good breakfast, excellent dinner and wine were a real treat. Our room was on the second floor and looked over the courtyard. It was spacious and comfortable. The village is very attractive and near the interesting towns of Poitiers, Chatelleraut, Chauvigny and St.Savin. Altogether an excellent stay.

We visited Le Relais du Lyon d'Or several years ago and had very fond memories of a charming building around a peaceful courtyard with lovely well appointed rooms and excellent food. We recently returned to find that it was still as glorious. It takes work to maintain such a high standard and our host has done just that. The welcome... More

Beautiful building, fabulous setting, great room...quiet & large, friendly host. Free wifi, good breakfast and an amazing dinner with superb wine in the most romantic of settings. We loved it! We will certainly be back on our next trip through this area.

The owner admits this is not the most modern hotel, but it is in an historic building of great character in the middle of a beautiful village. Our room was comfortable and well appointed, there is free Wifi and on-site parking - important as the streets are very narrow. No, there isn't a lift or air conditioning, but you wouldn't... More

This is a really beautiful hotel with a lovely courtyard and very tastefully decorated rooms. It is 300 feet from the center of the village (which is admittedly a little quiet with street lights turned off at 11pm!!). When we arrived at the hotel we met both of the owners who were friendly and welcoming. We were then brought to... More

We stayed in this lovely hotel for 3 nights. It could not have been better. Dominique, the owner could not have been more helpful- we have two young children aged 2 and 4 and he went out of his way to accommodate us and the children. The hotel is charming and relaxed , the food and service were excellent and... More

We have just returned home after spending 4 delightful nights at Le Relais du Lyon d'Or. The hotel is charming, well cared for and bathroom has been updated with a wonderful shower. Everything has been tastefully decorated. Lovely dining room with fireplace. On site parking for guests and outdoor tables for drinks before dinner or for meals on pleasant evenings.... More

We wanted to overnight in this region of France in one of the 100 most beautiful villages in France. This hotel and Angles sur l'Anglin appeared following our initial research to 'tick all the boxes". It did! The two rooms we saw and used were excellent with great character and nicely restored. The dining room and food presented were brilliant.... More

We stayed one night as a stop over. I read about the hotel in Sawdays and we were not disappointed. The hotel is situated in a beautiful medieval village, which we spent the whole afternoon exploring having had lunch in the town square. The hotel is charming. It has a courtyard where you can sit and eat and drink. Our... More

Excellent hotel - good simple food, fantastic wine (although not cheap), great location, accept dogs (which is brilliant) lovely rustic rooms and amazing hosts. My only criticism is that it is expensive for what it is. Perhaps that is just France. Would definitely go back.
