Very good location close to the river and a few minutes walk from the town. The landscaping is good and the place oozes historical charm. We stayed one night in the Heritage Suite which was a great experience. There are minor maintenance issues which one has come to accept from state run establishments. Although we did not have lunch or... More

Excellent location by the river in extensive well-kept grounds and near to the town and all the palaces and temples. A clean and well-kept hotel. A wonderful oasis during the day but in the evening it all changes; over the road behind the tents is a club/hotel which seems to specialise in Indian rock/dance music. During our 3 night stay,... We stayed here for one night after we found that we couldn't stay for all 3 nights in the homestay (see review: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g319728-d1556574-r120942851-Orchha_Home_Stay-Orchha_Madhya_Pradesh.html). Whilst staying at the home stay we visited a few hotels including the Sheesh Mahal and this one, both being run by MPTDC. We'd previously stayed at an MPTDC in Gwalior so knew that the food was... this is a State-run resort and has all the plusses and minuses that go along. Nice big plot of land, well located for the key sights, right near the river. Nice cottages. But the tents didn't look that special. Food was reliable (hard to find in an off the beaten path place like Orchha) and the waiter was VERY helpful.... More

I stayed at this place as part of my Intrepid Tour and when the itinerary mentioned that we will be staying in tents I was a little concerned but everything turned up better than expected. We had two beds, and air conditioner and hot water! What else could we asked?!. There was also a TV which I never used. The... More

Orccha with its palaces, temples and cenotaphs is one of my favorite places in Madhya Pradesh. I did not stay overnight in the Betwa Retreat but walked in their one afternoon because the location is just fantastic. They gladly showed me some of their cottages and tents which I found very well maintained and clean. Spoke to some people who... More

North India has some prime location owned hotels this is one of them. Just a short walk to the downtown area of Orchha. This one had: a average breakfast included, average room, only internet was in the front office area. The best part were the grounds of the hotel with the pool (to cold in November) to use. All this... More

Been to Orchha with wife and my little daughter as an extention of a wedding trip. Stayed at Betwa Retreat, must say it was a great experience. Brought back the memories of sweet, simple people of Madhya Pradesh (it did help that I had spent my formative years in Guna, Indore and Raipur(erstwhile, MP).Very well managed and neat cottages, can...
