Hampi..a quaint little town. Something in the name which draws you towards it. Once an extremely prosperous town still seems to have retained its glory in its majestic historical ruins. A single day visit will not do any justice to this place. Yes, you could visit all the ruins in one day. But a night stay here, away from the... More

I think this is one of the best places to stay at in Hampi. Get a room facing the paddy fields and you will have an amazing time. There is sitting area and a swing outside every room, where you can sit and relax. Food is okay. Very pocket friendly. Staff is really friendly.

This place is at the Hippie side of the river. Do remember it's more for a backpacker, laid back traveler kind of place. Rooms : The rooms have a rustic feel to them and each comes equipped with a swing where you can lie down. The bed linens and mosquito net were not appealing; better to take off the net... More

We took cottages with paddy fields view. Property is well maintained. We felt there was scarcity of staff. One single guy was taking orders, delivering food to tables as well as rooms. Food at the cottage is really tasty. We did not get much of continental/israeli cuisine but whatever we ordered felt good to our taste buds. Odomos/mosquito repellents are... More

Stayed at Shanthi Guesthouse earlier in the year. It's on the hippie side of the river, the side with the (must-see) Monkey Temple and Anegundi village. I'm not sure any of the guesthouses on this side of the river are family kinda places. It's more for chilled out non-fussy travellers/ backpackers, and, hippies, of course. Try and get a room... It was fantastic. Basic but the people that run it were lovely and really made us fee at home. Loved the little huts you get to sleep in and the swing seat overlooking the rice fields was a brilliant touch as the views out over the monuments and rice fields were just beautiful. The food was really good too. Would... More

Stayed here just for one night on a quick trip to Hampi. We stayed in the garden view cottages, which is all you need, and for a good price (under 500 INR per person). However, the place is pretty far down the road from the river, and the other, much closer places seemed a little more lively (though we couldn't... More

Hampi is a small laid back city in Karnataka and if you want to sit back and enjoy a true backpackers inn feel then this is the place to be. Go for the paddy facing cottages for privacy and n amazing view. Please check for the paddy while you go as the pictures show amazing greenery and while we went... More

Price is a part of any review and this is good value for money. The huts are basic but comfortable. Nice rustic feel to them. We found the fan adequate but some people in other huts were too warm at night. Bathrooms are OK with good hot water. WiFi is only available in central areas. There are different places to... More

Finding Shanthi can be a little tiresome, as from the train you need to rickshaw to the Hampi ferry (fantastic drive through the ruins!) then get across the river and walk around 15 minutes along the dirt track. The welcome sign is a little faded but once you hit Mowgli it is the next one along. Positives - beautiful scenery,... More
