We stayed at Jagatram Niwas for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We took ample advantage of the view down over the valley while hanging out on the balcony, and spent much time wandering through the hills. The walks to Dharamkot and Bhagsu are very charming, and you'll get in good shape fast! The morning breakfast was nice,... More

I was at the Jagatram Niwas guest house for a week in mid June. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, particularly the commute on foot to Mcleod, which by the way could be a discouraging factor for those not used to walking. Because of its location, you can access Mcleod either through Bhgasunag or Dharamkot, which gives you an opportunity to... More

I spent two nights at this guesthouse on 17-19 June 2014. I made the online booking smoothly by contacting Matthew before I flied off from Hong Kong. The Guesthouse was located in the upper mountain area overlooking the beautiful villages among the natural scenery. My host Bavinder was very nice, friendly and helpful. He helped me arrange a one-day trekking... More

We don't disagree with the majority of reviews for this place that it is an idyllic setting and a lovely little guesthouse, but unfortunately our stay was littered with several issues which the management need to address. The main one is the attitude of the family running the house; Bavinder always seemed annoyed that we were asking him for something-... More

Thank you for taking the time to review Jagatram Niwas and for your positive feedback about the setting and guest house. We are sorry that you feel your stay was spoiled by the issues you outlined, which I am happy to address below. 1) The vast majority of reviews on Tripadvisor and in our guest book are extremely positive about... I stayed at Jagatram Niwas on 28th April & 30th April. Basically I had gone there for a trek to Triund and snowline. Jagatram Niwas is situated at Heini village, 10-15 min drive from Mcleodganj (upper Dharamshala) and then a 10 minute walk on a village road. Because of it's location, I would not advise it for people with any... More

I needed a place to write a book for 1,5 months. After looking through ALL the available options Jagatram Niwas was above and beyond anything else in the area. Why? First of all, since it's one of the highest houses on the mountain, the place is quiet compared to everything else down the hill. Secondly, the rooms on the third... More

Set at the foot of the Himalayas this hotel is amazing. The hosts Bavinder, Rekha and Matthew are the kindest people around. Honest and helpful. The hotel is set on the side of a mountain overlooking an incredible view. It's like living in a National Geographic magazine. Don't miss this experience. This is our second trip there.

We were on the first leg of our father daughter trip around Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, and this was the perfect way to settle into our time in India. Our rooms on the top floor overlooked the valley below, beautiful sunsets to see! Our rooms were ideal - spotless, spacious, with heaters ( even when we arrived early Dec, it... More

I’ve been a guest at Jagatram Niwas for the past eight months (since March 2013). I could stay in this mountain retreat in Upper Bhagsu forever! The hosts, Bavinder and Rekha, are warm and gracious and never intrusive. The rooms (most with attached bathrooms) are attractively furnished, spacious and comfortable and open onto a terrace where you can sit at... More
