The lodgings were wonderful. Take the Buhoma community walk while there and support the women's collective. The food was great and staff friendly and helpful. Wifi somewhat unpredictable. Best showers in Uganda :-). The perfect place from which to track gorillas.

The views from the lodge is incredible..practically sitting on your front balcony and having a view of the Bwindi rain forest...The staff are friendly but service is very slow ....The interiors and furnishings in the lodge and rooms are so outdated and old. The beds are just enough to fit a 5 ft height person. Small. The bathroom looks huge which... More

Stayed for two nights in September 2013, enjoyed the stay immensely. Fantastic view across the valley to the National Park, and the gardens were full of native birds. Even found a chameleon in one of the shrubs. Good rooms, nice restaurant and a small giftshop. And they have wifi. The room keys are on keyrings featuring a carved gorilla head... More

Arrived at Silverback Lodge after gorilla tracking and my first impression was that of the amazing view from the patio area outside the reception. The room (#4) was spacious, nicely decorated, clean and pleasantly scented. The shower exceeded my expectations – not only was the bathroom big and bright, but the water pressure was great. It was very convenient to... More

We spent two nights at Silverback to do the Gorilla trek in Bwindi Park. All of the staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The room was small but very clean and attractive. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was very large and the water for the shower is heated with a wood fire, not the sun. In theory this should've... More

The location of this hotel is perfect and the views are incredible. For the price however, and the standard they are trying to meet, it's disappointing. We are able to compare it to a neighbouring lodge in the same price range, which we stayed in the previous night. It is in a different league! The main outside areas of the... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here in September 2013. We stayed here as part of an 8 day package booked through Churchill Safaris. This was a tiny lodge with just 8 rooms I believe. You feel like you're staying in someone's house. On the downside: the decor in the rooms is very dated, and has a slight musky smell. At... More

Enjoyed a two-nite stay at the Silverback Lodge as part of September safari to Uganda. Although not there for gorilla trekking, the location was excellent for accessing the Buhoma area. Less than a 10 minute drive to the gate (and the gorilla trek briefing point). The view of the forested hillside across the valley “shouted” birds to us and we... More

If you want to visit the mountain gorillas in the Bwindi rain forest there's no better location to use as a base. This comfortable lodge offers fantastic views over the rain forest in any weather (lets face it is a rain forest). The main open lounge area affords uniterupted views and at night seated around a roaring log fire there's... More

It's no easy feat to get here, but worth it once you arrive. We drove in from Kigali, Rwanda, a hard seven hours, especially the last three. But the remoteness is a big part of the attraction, so you know what you're in for when you book a trip like this. You're coming here to see gorillas, but the immediate... More
