Our last stay at Mt Barney Lodge was almost 20 years ago. When John and Jenny Larkin owned the Lodge. It's great to see that this fantastic tourism destination has been left in good hands. Innis and Tracy have gone from strength to strength adding meals, tours and onsite campervans. We choose the campervan as an easy alternative to camping. We... More

Wonderful base for walking around Mt Barney, and the creek has plenty of swimming holes to cool off afterwards. There are plenty of birds and wallabies around if you're into wildlife watching. The property is well maintained and we will definitely return.

We are so pleased that you had such a great time exploring the property and surrounds. Did you hear or see that glossy black-cockatoo?? They are a VIP " Threatened Species", and they can be seen with luck at Mt Barney Lodge right now. We recommend that when you come back to do the mountain ridges and peaks, that the... More

This place is just beautiful. We stayed in one of the 'glamping' tents for four nights. While we were there the creek was crystal clear and full and flowing. The kids spent three whole days playing at the creek while we were able to relax and enjoy how peaceful the place is. I can't wait it go back! Best to... More

We spent 3 nights at Mt Barney Lodge Country Retreat recently and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The staff were so friendly and genuinely helpful from start to finish. Between our two families we had 4 children. They went on two of the adventures with Innes and could not stop talking about what an amazing time they had. I would highly... More

Thanks for your enthusiastic review, sounds like a great time was had by all!! Innes is certainly a crowdpleaser for kids and adults activities alike. Jarryd has just joined our team of outdoor leaders, so if you come back any time soon the kids will feel like the Kids Night Adventure is whole new activity. Hope to see you again... More

Have enjoyed many weekend and mid-week breaks at Mount Barney Lodge. Innes and Tracy Larkin are excellent hosts; always welcoming and great with real advice about the area. Their local knowledge of the area is unsurpassed and they can be relied upon to assist you with your trip planning; no matter how adventurous you choose to be. The location is... More

Thanks for sharing your experiences on Tripadvisor Wendy. Our "regular" guests who visit again and again do tend to try and keep our place "secret" , but as you know part of our Ecotourism and personal philosophy is to limit numbers so that everybody has a true wilderness experience when they stay with us. Even though Mount Barney Lodge is... More

A group stayed in the big house (beginning with 'm') which is set up with lovely old furniture. It is comfortable and has everything you need. The quietness and darkness outside is a reminder of how many places once were. Highly recommended. Lovely, friendly hosts and wonderful to just be able to relax and do nothing if you wanted except... The house you enjoyed so much is Moringararah - we refer to it as MR between staff as the aboriginal name which means "camp by running brook" is abit of a mouthful!! Did you discover the freshwater spring behind the house as you head up to Mt Gilles? This spring never dries up and is the reason the homestead was... More

My girlfriend and I spend a lot of time in the Gold Coast hinterlands as we love trail running. This time we decided to go away somewhere different for the weekend and we came across the Mt Barney Lodge on the net. We booked the "glamping" setup as we are not huge campers. We arrived late at night and as... More

Wow thanks for the wraps guys. As a person who loves getting out into the wilderness I appreciated your interest in getting out and about on the tracks. Don't worry there are plenty of cool spots left to visit for many years to come... I am still discovering new places even after 13 years of living here. Cheers! Innes More

We have just spent another great (and hot) weekend with family and friends at Mt Barney Lodge. Tracey, Innes and Nea were friendly and helpful (as always!). The kids loved their Night Adventure with Innes and are looking forward to the next time they can do it. We all enjoyed swimming at the Yellow Pinch rock pool. Some of us... More

On such hot days it is great to head off to the nearby waterholes to cool off. Since your visit there has been 60cm of rain - so all the waterholes and freshwater creek systems are recharged for summer fun!! The campground is also beautifully covered in green grass and loos so camp-able!! We'll give a shout out to our... More

Starting with an awesome greeting our 4 days here were just magic. We just chilled - took in the rippa view - bit of walking- bit of swimming. My friends kids flew around on their pushies and in no time were hooked up with other kids. Onl y possible negative was that we were quite far from the dunnies, which... More

Sounds like happy kids = happy camping holiday! The easily forged friendships with other kids in the campground makes for a blissful family holiday. The creek is a great meet'n'greet zone for them!! I agree, Wallaby Flat is a fair way for littlies to goto the amenities, but you can always choose to be closer as we do not allocate... More
