We camped at Mt Barney twice over 3 weeks in June/July 2014. The grounds, facilities, staff and feel of the place is just great. The activities during school hols are really well run, and there's a real feeling of family there. Mt Barney seems to attract mostly considerate family campers, so that works for us. Seeing the thousands of stars... More

I attended the navigation workshop at Mt Barney Lodge during July. It offered fantastic value for money with attentive and constructive instruction from Innes. Yes, the concepts and equipment were a little challenging in the first instance for the navigation neophyte, however the ability to apply my new knowledge on a couple of subsequent (guided) walks was so helpful. The... More

Fantasic getaway for a short stay in beautiful hinterland scenery. Stayed in one of two "Glamping" camper trailers, which are fully equiped with gas and power and sleep a family of four very comfortable. Lots of walks, hikes and trails around to spent the day outdoors. The team at the lodge also arranges a number of activities for every level... More

We were fortunate to stay at Mt Barney Lodge in the last week. While we stayed in one of the houses, we did have a look at the other facilities, and spoke with some of the campers. We were well catered for and the camping facilities received good reports. The host are very nice and provided us with a comprehensive... More

What a fantastic place to camp for a winter festival of outdoor activity. The team at Mt Barney lodge run a fantastic camp ground. Limiting the amount of people to ensure that there are large open areas for all to play. The children's activities run in the evenings are exciting and fun. They provide a wealth of experience for all... More

Winter wonderland - what a great summary of what I felt this afternoon gazing at the soft apricot light fading behind the rocky peaks as another brisk winter night starts to settle upon the valley. Even after 14 years of living here the sheer beauty of nature has the power to stop me in my tracks. I'm glad you could... More

We recently camped in the Mt Barney Lodge campgrounds for a couple of nights. The campground is spacious and has a wonderful view of Mt Barney. The location is very quiet and peaceful and, the amenities were very clean with hot showers. There is one covered shelter with a rustic wooden table and seats, which we found useful to cook... More

Thanks for your review Sue. Yes our winter nights can be quite cold, but despite the cold winter weather it is still our most popular time for bookings. I'm not sure if you visited us mid week, or on a weekend, but we have the same cap on numbers on any day of the year. As an Advanced Ecotourism retreat... More

We stayed in camper trailer "Barney" and were very impressed with the facilities. A big comfy bed, an open fire and views of Mount Barney made our stay perfect. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and the toilet/shower block was always spotless. We were only there for the weekend but did the Lower Portals walk on day 1 and... More

Our extended family are over 100 people strong. Each year, we organise a family reunion on the June long weekend as a way for family members to catch up and interact with each other. This year, we have chosen Mt Barney Lodge to host our special weekend. From the very first contact, the booking process was seamless. Given the size... More

Hi Kim, Thank you for your detailed testimonial. We are really pleased that your family reunion went so well, and that young and old connected with our special place. We enjoyed hearing the laughter drift up towards the office over the weekend, and the friendly family rivalry was apparent in the group challenges that I watched down at the creek.... More

When closing the curtains in the front bedroom it was quite awful to see many wasps' nests in the folds. The mosquito netting in other rooms had dead insects in them too. The main bathroom upstairs has a shower over the bath. The bath becomes quite slippery when used and as there is no non-slip mats or a handrail provided... More

Hi Sue, We have responded to your feedback immediately and removed the 2 mudwasp pods that you detected behind the curtain, and vaccuumed any trapped insects. As the mosquito nets had been laundered recently we are happy with their presentation. You may have overlooked the optional non-slip bathmat under the kitchen sink (the closest storage spot to the bathroom!), as... More

I've just returned from 4 nights camping at Mt Barney Lodge and can't say enough good things. The camp ground is absolutely beautiful and there are gorgeous views all around. You camp wherever you like so there are no designated spots which I think is great. There are quite a few camp fires scattered around the grounds and it was... More
