The Asahikawa Grand puts on the show in the common areas. The lobby is opulent but slightly dated. There are two available breakfasts. The Japanese breakfast is on the seventh floor. The view is nice and the ambience very quiet. However, the selection is limited. The bigger buffet is hosted on the ground floor. It has many of the Japanese... More

Stayed in this grand hotel during the snow festival. Ours is a fairly spacious double bedroom. Everything gives you a luxurious feel, including the bed cover. But when we actually went to bed, we found that the bed cover was actually a quilt too. And that was when the nightmare started. The material of the quilt was so 'crispy' and... More

Room was excellent but bathroom small and had a large gap under the door. Only one bus to the airport in the morning at 7am otherwise a taxi for $45. Breakfast excellent but in true Japanese fashion, you need to line up and beat the rush. When you use your DEBIT travel card be careful because the bank will charge... More

classic old hotel, high ceiling hall, long window curtains. Spacious room. The shopping street is next to the hotel. As other viewers said, take a taxi to the JR station in winter and it costs you yen540, Most staff can speaks some English, and nice. Breakfast? Awesome as they offer my favourite salmon roe. Highly recommend if you will stay... More

Pretty awesome hotel which is reasonable priced. The family room was comfortable and well equipped. Free wifi. We have the Japanese breakfast at the 5th floor which was awesome with a pretty view. The normal breakfast at ground floor was awesome as well with a place of a high ceiling. Staff speaks little English but they can tell you the... More

The Bellboys (and girls) are dressed like Zero Moustafa (Grand Budapest Hotel), and this place has a fun old fashioned elegance. The rooms are pretty standard hotel rooms - what you expect for the price and reasonable value. As other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms are too hot and stuffy. Sleeping just under a sheet when it is -5 degrees... More

Travelled with hubby and another friend. An easy 15mins walk from the JR station, small room but with the bed directly facing the window with an awesome night view (booked a superior small double room). Very comfortable bed - wish we stayed more than one night!

We had an overnight stay in this hotel recently. Here's a brief personal opinion of Asahikawa Grand Hotel: Pros: 1. Hotel is located in downtown Asahikawa and a short walk to the main shopping street Kaimono Koen where there are numerous departmental stores, shops and eateries. 2. Hotel staff is pleasant and courteous and some can converse well in English.... More

Though we booked a "small double room", it is still quite alright for us. The hotel is clean and nice, staff are helpful too. We don't have to go ramen village for the famous ramen, there are 2 top rated branches nearby the hotel. The shopping area is also within 10 min walk.

We were pleased with the room assigned to us on a high floor as well as the helpfulness of the service staff who spoke English. This is one of the few hotels during our recent trip where the staff were really at ease in English and knowledgeable about the surrounding attractions - the front desk helped me to resequence my...
