I shoulda plugged this place back in 2003 or so, because THIS WAS THE FIRST OF THE HOTELS TO OFFER BUFFET DINNERS which include all-you-can-eat tempura bar and beefsteak. This was very unusual back then. The Kyukamura chain of ryokan/hotels are probably the best example of these today, with fantastic buffet spreads for both dinner and breakfast. I did not... More

This is two completely different hotels. I started in a small, threadbare room overlooking a parking lot and equipment. The heater didn't work. There were no drawers to put my clothes. Lucky for me, our meeting coordinator came to help me with the heater. He was appalled and said we had paid for ocean view rooms. I moved the next... More

We stayed here for four nights and each night the food got better. The restaurant staff went out of their way to prepare dishes that were just right for us, even though it was supposedly a buffet dinner. I booked via an email with the booking staff and was very happy with their service. When we got to the hotel... More

This hotel location is quite good for sightseeing. About 5 minutes walk to sightseeing ferry landing and Fukuura island. View from Hotel is also nice. I could see many beautiful islands from the room. We had dinner at restaurant named "Raku Raku" in the hotel. We could use the single room, and could enjoy dinner comfortably. Everything was delicious especially... More

We deliberately chose to visit Tohoku as tourists about 16 months after the tsunami--in part to support the recovery effort--and Matsushima was at the top of our list. The Century Hotel is the most commanding property in this seaside town. We had a large sea-view tatami room with a fantastic view and wonderful balcony for lounging. During our day here... More

This hotel has a fabulous location for viewing islands as it is right on the water. All the main attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. It is very good value, the rooms are very spacious and clean. We had a non-smoking western room that overlooked the town, which was quite pleasant. I would have preferred a room overlooking the... We stayed at the Matsushima Century Hotel for one night only but would have liked to stay more. This is a very nice hotel in the very small but beautiful town of Matsushima Kaigan, which is considered one of the three most scenic places in Japan. The hotel has a very quick pick-up and drop-off service from the Japan Rail... More
