Under new management (Atef and Jane from Seven Wonders Bedouin Camp), the Rocky Mountain Hotel is an informal and basic family run hotel very close to the town center and offers its guests spectacular views. There is a free shuttle service to the Petra Visitors Centre and free Wi-Fi. Traditional breakfast is included in the price of the room and dinner is available at night on the arabic style rooftop terrace. Snacks are available during the day and lunch boxes need to be ordered the night before.

A moment to forget. Dusty room. Used sheets. The restaurant was closed, even though on the website it reads that the restaurant is open also on weekdays. The lobby organized dinner which we could eat in the restaurant. However, the hotel sold us a lunch pack for our day in Petra. With the excuse that there were no facilities in the park. Well, there were! The only moment in Jordan that we have been treated in an incorrect manner.

Great experience! The hotel itself is comfortable and in a great position, with a terrace that offers a view all over the valley, but the real difference maker is Abo Yayah, the host. I've traveled a lot, but this is the first time that I can't help but review a place solely to praise the host: Abo has been the kindest man for our time being there and he will keep a place in my memories. I can't but reccomend a stay at the Rocky Mountain Hotel with the sole reason to enjoy his smile and presence.

We spent two nights while visiting Petra. The hotel is only a five minute drive down to the site and has superb views over the town. The rooms are quirky with thick bedouin mats. I had a mountain view room which is definitely worth paying the few pounds extra for as the view is superb. Bathroom is small but OK - remember that hot water is on for 3-4 hours morning and evening. This wasn't an issue at all. Wi fi was good all over the hotel including in the lounge/breakfast area which has the balcony where you can sit out and take in the superb view, particularly at sunset. Staff were all really helpful and you can buy water/snacks in reception. A really good choice.

We really like this place! We spent 70 pounds for 2 nights with breakfast included. Free parking outside, nice and welcoming staff Room are large and clean, shame there is not fridge or kettle but upstairs, in the Amazing top floor the personnel is always keen to give you coffee or tea. The terrace is sompretty and relaxing. Few minutes driving from petra. The hotel gives you the opportunity of a lunch box for 5 Jod and sells water and drinks at cheap price! Very recommended!

Mamhoud is a great host . The place has a terrace that will take your breath off. I slept in a room and apparently slept in a Bedouin tent. Warm atmosphere , Jordan hospitality . Very close to Petra. Great place to achieve the site earlier in the morning

We stayed in a 2 twin bed room with a private bathroom for 3 nights to visit Petra. The reason to stay at this hostel is two fold. First, the staff are wonderful and kind. They truly want to help you with anything you may need. Second, the view the view is incredible. You can watch the sun set over Petra from the top floor common area. One nigh we picked up shawarma after a long day exploring petra and watched the sun set. It is one of my fav memories of my trip to Jordan. The rooms are older and the bathrooms are a touch small but over all a great hostel and I would stay here again

We stayed here in truth because our other choices were all full but knowing this hotel was a budget hotel we knew not to expect too much. This hotel ticked so many boxes, its clean, quiet, the staff were super friendly and parking was easy to find. We walked into town in 7mins and then further close to the entrance to Petra then walked home after dinner. If visiting Petra for the day I'd drive and park or arrange a lift because a full day of walking in Petra might be just too much to walk back. The hotel was cheap and certainly suited us for the one night

The hotel is located out of town but provides a great view of the surrounding terrains. The staff is very friendly and helpful. One of the best which I have encountered throughout my 2 weeks road trip to Egypt and Jordan. The room is very basic and they do not provide cleaning unless upon request. The toilet is very small and you need to cross over the toilet bowl in order to shower. The floor is wet after showering which can be quite uncomfortable to step on. The hotel has a specific time to turn on the hot water and aircon heater (6 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 9 pm) which can be quite cumbersome to follow the timing. The wifi connection is super good. Though there is no TV in the room, I can use the Wifi to watch movies online. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but there are a few restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast selection is not perfect but the view on top is superb. There is no specific parking area for this hotel and I have to park either on the roadside or in the parking lots in front of the shops beside the hotel.

I stayed here in July for a few days while visiting Petra. It's a good walk away from the ancient city so be prepared for that. The place was lovely and the staff very friendly. The manager gave me a few tips about Petra too. They made things very easy when I decided I wanted to stay one more day. They also have a lovely view for sunrise and sunset.
