This is a very low price hotel I stayed. I booked for a dorm room for 5JD a nights, but since is low season, end up they give me a single room, which is good, the location is city centre. But the downside is, the speakers is outside the window, so when the 4:30 am call for prayer, you will... More

This place is pretty standard for the price you pay. IF you need a roof over your head with some backpackers for a few nights then this is the place. The food was a plenty and was great to not have to leave to go eat. They were helpful. No issues. When we got home after a full day of... More

Come on people, don't be snobs, it's Petra - enjoy the rustic experience! Mohammad was very good about finding us a great deal to tour Wadi Rum, and stuck to his word. As for Cleanliness and Secutiry - I mean, you're in Petra, don't expect a five star hotel unless you are going to a five-star hotel. But for us... More

I stayed for two nights and my stay was nothing to get all too excited about. The service was okay, they had a nice breakfast and coffee for about 2 JED and the staff was friendly. The room was very simple and comfortable enough but I found that the mosquitoes in the room the be quite a nuisance. The location is... More

We stayed there for two nights. Receptionist didn't speak English well and since it was Ramadan he offered us a breakfast. First the price for two was 5 JD and after we eat it the price raised to 8 JD. Breakfast was nothing special...pretty much a ripoff. The room was very simple but since we didn't pay much it was... We've been guest of the hostel for one day the last week. We arrived in the morning and the receptionist allowed us to leave our luggages in the room. A great deal, thinking that we would have been walking under the sun of Petra for the next 10 hours. The hostel/hotel is small but comfortable, we could define it family... More

pros: -fairly clean -near the bus station -affordable -got a free upgrade from a double twin to a double twin en-suite with balcony (nice sunset view every night:) -free morning drop off to the Petra Archaeological Park (coming back is at least a 20 minute walk, uphill, you can get a taxi for one dinah, bargain with a smile) -near... I booked in for a week. It's not the Ritz but certainly a good budget option to staying long enough to see the historical Petra. It is about 2km to the entrance of Petra archaeological site itself and from there another 40 minute walk along the Siq to the Treasury Building and all the other sites. A taxi is only... More

I stayed at Orient Gate for 3 nights (5 - 7 Dec 2011). I made a booking via the hostel's website, which is very easy. I arrived at the hostel when its already dark, after a 9hr package ride from Amman (visiting many sites OTW). I was already tired then, but the hospitality that I received fr the hostel staff... This is an OK place to doss. We stayed one night but we had a difference of opinion with the manager on agreed rates. The rooms were OK with showers. If you have one night to pass in Petra and can't find something beter, this is OK, but I would look elsewhere first.
