Having visited the caravanserai/fort, the frescoed hunting lodge/bath and the black basalt castle (with the amazing stone doors) on the road to Azrak (all really worth a visit and very different from the fortresses we had seen in Karak, for example), our final aim was to visit the nature reserve in what were the wetlands - now tragically mostly dried... We stopped over for lunch during a visit to the Azraq reserve and absolutely loved it. The place is charming and clean and food fantastic. The only downside is the pricing policy of the national park for the night stay, we think this great lodge would attract way more visitors if they could drop the over night price from currently... Azraq Lodge really is an oasis in the desert. The town of Al Azraq itself has not much to commend it other than the magnificent Azraq Nature Reserve. Although the reserve is a fraction of its former size, it is well worth the trip, and really leaves you thinking about your water usage for the rest of your trip in... More

Azraq lodge is I think the best option if you want to stay in or around Azraq and if you want to visit the (small) wetlands and some of the desert castles in one day, without too much of a hurry. But the best in the neighbourhood doesn't mean that it is very good. The rooms are very spacious and... More

We stayed two nights at the Azraq Lodge, which is an old British field hospital and has had several other functions. It has been tastefully renovated and is in keeping with its former use. The rooms are large and airy. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room facilities also kept to the theme of the hotel i.e. room furniture... More

The Azraq hotel is small but clean and comfortable. The food is good and the staff excellent. There is a military base be hid the lodge so you must be careful not to photograph in that direction. Best hotel in the area

This lodge was a British army field hospital built in the 1940's. After extensive renovation by the RSCN retaining some period features it is a great place to stay. Rooms are basic but perfectly adequate, with good hot showers. The evening meal was four courses, with a good salad range to start. Staff were very nice and helpful. Packed lunches... More

Commendable recycling of the Old British military hospital. Free Wi fi in the lounge, Peaceful location, helpful staff and good food. The bedrooms are large and functional, the water pressure is a bit variable and if you want fancy toiletries take your own

The hotel is nice (the food is very good) and the staff very friendly. Nevertheless it is quite expensive (starting from 69JD a night) and I think that is a little overpriced for what in the end is nothing more than a good room.

This lodge feels far away from everything, but it is well done. The rooms are spacious and clean and even with AC, and seem quite new. The original building is the common area and contains some interesting old photos. There is wifi available in the common area. The food is good and cooked by local people . The staff is... More
