The Kotoni family were extremely helpful and welcoming to me during my very short (1 night) stay there. I was greeted with coffee, was given info on where the best sights/places to eat were, and Vita helped me arranged my onward transport to Greece for the following day. The rooms were cosy and welcoming (not huge, but that wasn't a... More

The kotonis were so kind to us and went out of their way to help us, from personally walking to find us a parking place to carrying our bags up the hill and stairs. The rooms are on the small side (understandable for a charming historical building) but the location and views more than make up for that. Our windows... More

We'd booked a night at hostel Kotoni via hostelworld.com. We emailed the day before to confirm but received no answer. Having driven from Tirana that day we phoned ahead to say that we might be late. The hostel didn't answer the call either. When we arrived at 8pm that evening the owner said that she'd given away our room. She... More

The Kotonis are perfect innkeepers. Their B & B exudes warmth and hospitality and it is because of their engaging personalities. They speak excellent English (two of their children live in the Minnesota in the US) and are eager to share their personal stories as well as those of their country. Gjirokastër is a beautiful and charming town and the... More

We were warmly greeted by Vita and her husband when we arrived in the pouring rain. We were immediately served a hot cup of tea and cake - just lovely. Vita is such a friendly and welcoming host. She was able to recommend worthwhile local attractions, a delicious restaurant and provide information about local buses. The room was very comfortable... More

The owners of the historic Kotoni Bed and Breakfast in Gjirokaster take hospitality and service to a new level. Haxhi and Vita are so friendly, service-minded, genuine and hospitable that they should be running courses for others in the hospitality industry. We were welcomed with tea, coffee, juice, cakes and nice stories, despite being relatively cheap (25 Euro per room... More

I enjoyed my stay, nice room, great views, breakfast was good. Wifi a bit hit and miss. The highlight though are the owners Haxhi and Vita. Amazing couple who will do everything they can to make you feel at home.

We stayed in Gjirokaster for 1 night in June '14. We contacted Kotoni by email and although they were full they arranged for us to stay just down the road in Gjenovefa house (opposite Skendulli house) which was great as we had a whole house to ourselves, and were still able to come to Kotoni for breakfast the next day.... Located in the old town, this Hotel is quite random. The staff is nice but the Hotel itself could be better. The rooms are quite small, some with A/C, other without (so be sure to ask a room with A/C if you are visiting in summer). Breakfast isn't great (Nescafé as coffee...) and the possibility to make yourself tea or... More

Chose the Kotoni after reading all the positive reviews. Happy to see they were very much deserved. One of the nicest, most interesting moments in this trip was listening to Mrs. Kotoni describe how she and other women in the old town worked together to host tourists in their homes - a very radical idea in her quite traditional community....
