My husband and I went with another couple to the Shady River property. My husband and I stayed in Firefly (the treehouse) and our friends stayed in Wit's End. It was such an excellent and relaxing weekend. We kayak a lot and were looking for a resort in northern Arkansas to kayak and that is how we found this place.... More

We enjoyed Memorial Day weekend at Shady River in Canebrake Cabin. My husband and I and our adult son were completely comfortable in the cabin. We also brought our dog Buddy who also enjoyed all the natural surroundings. I would recommend anyone wanting a place to get away from civilization to consider Shady River because they won't be disappointed.

My husband and I stayed in Canebreak Cottage. such a cute cottage perfect for two people who want to get away from it all. Our first evening driving on the property there were 10 white tail deer skipping around and grazing in the meadow just below the cottages! Our second night it rained in the late evening and we were... More

What a cute cottage! We stayed at the Wit's End Cottage. My kids had a blast. Would be a great place to go with another family. They currently have 2 cabins but are building a tree house cabin that is amazing! Loved the swimming hole, sat in the river on lawn chair reading while the kids fished, kayaked and swam.... More

We stayed in Wits' End Cabin. It was heaven! Double bed plus two singles in the loft and a pull out sofa. Blue wash on the walls, a rope swing in front, a dreamy tub on the back porch. You get the use of a golf cart during your stay. We used it to trek down to the river and... More

Our family of four (two adults, two kids under 10) stayed in the "Wit's End" cabin over the fourth of July weekend and had the most fun. The kids loved sleeping in the loft and there was so much for all of us to do! We swung on a swing, played horseshoes, took the golfcart through all the trails, went... More

Shady River is in the early stages of development yet worth a visit, if you are searching for a quiet retreat in a remote location in NE Arkansas with access to a wonderful free flowing stream, the Eleven Point River. A unique and welcoming couple, David and Linda, a college professor and attorney, have hand-built a handsome cottage, the first... More

Five of us stayed a couple of nights at Shady River, on the clear, cool Eleven Point River, in September 2009 and will definitely be going back. It's far enough from civilization to give complete peace and quiet, and close enough to a town go be handy! The place is brand new. We all just loved getting away from the... More
