We did 3 weeks in Ecuador, and by far our 2 days in the Amazon was my favorite. Staying at Casa del Suizo, definitely added to the experience. The morning we were due to leave I told my boyfriend that I wasn't leaving, that I was just going to buy the room and live there forever. 3/4 of the room... More

We were part of a tour of Gate1 and were surprised when we were told we would have to take canoes to the resort! How fun! As we approached the resort, it was so awesome! It was very tropical, made you feel like you really were in the AMAZON! check in was flawless, had to pay for wifi, 5.00 for... More

In order to get to the hotel, you will take a motorized canoe. This is interesting because the current (at the time we were there) was running about 6 knots. The hotel sits on the edge of the Napu River. It is awesome. Great views, good food and drinks too. We hiked the area and enjoyed a group tour. Can't... More

Views are fantastic, the room was big and nice, with a perfect hammock in front. Swimming pool was really inviting. The personnel was very helpful and the guides fine, helping to make the activities interesting. The only minus is that, considering meals and activities are included in the Price, they charge unnecesarily for small things: the meals did not include... More

Went on the amazing Amazon trip with our three kids and booked this hotel without knowing too much about it at first. Love love it. It's tucked in the rain forest, felt like on a different planet. Went on tours about the river, habitats, culture and etc. All of the activities were from the hotel. It's rustic yet clean, basic... More

Out local guide told that there is apparently no real competition to this hotel. If that is the case then it must be the reason for not taking greater care of the property. In general it is "OK" but it was the least appealing hotel during out 2 week tour of Ecuador and Peru. It is a big and busy... More

Nice and quiet place! We got some great trips into the jungle, with highly qualified guides and boatmen. The accommodation was fine and everything worked as it should. We saw many different animals and insects, as well as some of the local people.

Wonderful hotel perched on a bluff over looking the Napo river. Rooms are basic but include what you will need. Better bring your own hair dryer however. Comfortable beds face the deck which looks over the river. No a/c but did not need it as overhead fan was more than enough. The wall facing the river is all screened with... More

We stayed here 2 nights in April as part of a Gate 1 Travel tour. I had read many reviews and thought I knew what to expect. The hotel is accessible only by canoe which got overrated very quickly. Upon arrival, from the canoe’s dock it is quite a hike up to the hotel, very difficult carrying heavy bags in... More

Fantastic place! You arrive by boat to climb up to a large enclosure containing thatch covered "huts". Each couple has their own hut with a king size bed and screened window looking onto a porch with a hammock. The rooms are placed so that no other hut can see into your hut. There are no glass windows- just screen, but... More
