Lovely establishment in the jungle on the Napo River. Enjoyed the property and all the tours. The food was very good and the staff was very hospitable. What an experience it was to be in a lovely cabin overlooking the river and enjoying the jungle. Great time had! Mary and Andy

This place reminds me of being in a refugee camp. The compound has high, and I mean high, barb-wired walls to keep the locals? out. If you just stay on the grounds and enjoy your hammock, then you might find it "charming." We were here on a Gate 1 tour and a few of us were braved enough to venture... More

We were part of a group tour with Gate 1 in early March, so I cannot speak to the value for the money. Physically the place itself is charming and allows you to be in the middle of the jungle (if you want that) without experiencing much of the discomfort except for the humid wilting heat. To ameliorate that somewhat,... More

Great 3 day two night stop with Gate One on River Napo for those who would like jungle exposure but sleep where it is dry and out of the mud. Hotel is beautiful have to climb up mild stone trail from canoe ride. Only reason went by canoe is it would not cross on the ferry a little upstream. There... More

In the middle of Amazons, Ecuador, on the bank of River Napo, which becomes River Amazon after leaving Ecuador, this is the oldest hotel. It is very beautiful hotel within the nature. Swimming pool makes the evening fun and its tours within the jungle makes d days amazing. The trips r managed very nicely by the professional guides. U need... More

The hotel appears nice and the food appears safe, don' t be fooled. My husband and 30 other innocent folks spent 3 days and 2 nights. Gate 1 arranged the trip, the trip and guide would have been perfect if we had skipped the food at the hotel Suizo, the trip was very exciting until 3 am on the morning... More

If you want a jungle adventure that isn't really adventurous, then this is the place for you and your family. You can get an introduction to the local people and the local wildlife (though caged in a refuge). But don't plan on choosing which day trips would work best for you and your family. The lodge itself seemed interested only... More

This was the highlight of my Ecuadorian itinerary. The hotel/resort is set amongst indigenous communities and we accessed it by canoe across the Napo River. That set the tone for adventure! The hotel offers a more traditional pool and patio area along with the option for river-based activities. River guides are incredibly skilled. The guided river activities would be safe... More

I stayed at La Casa del Suizo for two nights on a Gate1 tour. It was the best part of the trip. The rooms are large with modern amenities, but no TV, phone, or Internet, which is actually great. A screen separates the room from the balcony so that you can hear the birds from the inside. The balcony has... More

This remote Amazon Resort Hotel is located smack in the Ecuador Amazon Rainforest on the Napo River (which flows into the Amazon River). Civilization has slowly crept closer to the hotel over the years but it still seems like an oasis in the middle of the green lush Amazon. To get there, you take river canoes down the river a... More
