We looked for a place to stay for a few nights in Mt Ida and decided on Shangri-La after reading it's reviews and those of a few of it's competitors in town. We were very happy with our choice! It's located literally right on the shore of Lake Ouachita - very scenic setting! There are several cabins, a court style... More

this is a great motel. our room had the swimming pool, out back, but it was not filled, or it might have been noisy. all the rooms have 2 chairs, out back, so you can sit and enjoy the view. there weren't alot of boats on the lake. the room is large enough. we got two beds. open the curtains... This place is horrible, the worst place I have ever stayed in. Bathroom floor was rotten and soft. Bathroom walls were rotting away. Sheets and blankets had stains, holes and would not even fit the mattress. The view was nice, but that was it. For $78 per night, this is a rip off. Stay away from this dump!

Although my friend and I stayed at another resort on Lake Ouachita, we tried the restaurant at Shangri-La on the recommendation of a local business owner. She told us the pie was the best anywhere. She was right. We both had the chocolate pie with meringue and it was just like mom used to make!! The locale by the lake... More

Ahh the pie...I can not say enough about the pie. Does not even matter what kind they are all so good! Grandma still makes all the crust by hand every day the kids now help with the filling but it's the crust that makes these pie's unforgetable. Do not limit yourself to one kind or one piece, try them all.... More

We loved this place! Traveling back from a trip out west, and wanting to visit some gem mines, Mt. Ida was a perfect stop. This was not our first choice of places to stay but after visiting that one and being very disappointed with the rooms offered, we decided to come here instead. So glad we did. As we drove... More

We absolutely LOVE this place! I wanted to book it for the very next weekend! We will be going back for sure! The rooms are quaint and basic with great views of the lake. The pool was nice to have right outside our door for a late night swim! The cafe has a basic selection and is VERY good! The... More

We had a couple of meals there during a visit to that part of the state. Our supper was your typical diner fare....OK, but nothing outstanding. We had heard about the pie and took some to-go.......BEST PIE EVER!!!!! Do not have a meal there without trying some of the pie. They have every kind you can imagine. It is like... More

If you like retro, you'll love this place. The "cabins" are more like apartments, as only three are free standing. Equipped with everything you need except a microwave. Ours had a big crack in the living room wall, and the ceiling light covers were missing. The only real down side was the very noisy air conditioning blower in the closet... More

Love the cafe at Shangri La. We have a condo at Mountain Harbor but love to take the boat over to Shangri La for lunch and a slice of pie. The very best pie in the world----homemade every day. Order early because it goes fast.
