I live in the area, so I have had the opportunity to eat at Mama Roos- the food is great, and they can handle special dietary needs (vegetarian, not spicy, etc). The dining room is lovely, with windows and a nice breeze. The location is perfect for visiting Tangkoko since it is across the street from the park entrance. They... More

I am absolutely satisfied with my stay at Mama Roos. My room was basic but renovated, clean and spacious. Good food. Don't worry about the bad reviews in the past. They have considerably improved. The staff was amazing and very helpful. I had a perfect and knowledgable guide. (Thank you Ateng for the wonderful days.) We are at a remote... More

I stayed here for one night as part of my trip to visit Tangkoko National Park. The location is great just a few minutes from the park entrance and also a short walk to the volcanic sand beach which I loved. The renovated rooms were fully booked so I had one of the more basic ones which was IDR200,000. The... More

Wonderful friendly clean place to stay. Food is also good and price includes 3 daily meals. Definitely use the guides from Mama Roos as well. They are very knowledgeable and responsible. Obvious how much they all care about the environment and the native animals. The rooms are basic with fans only but it gets quite cold at night so you... More

Don't worry about the negative reviews from before. Mama Roos had taken the time and money to renovate their rooms and they are still working hard at improving all the time. I will share some pictures from my recent stay so that you can get an idea of how nice things are here. The staff is also amazing and they... More

The room we had was basic but very clean with a comfortable bed and a decent mosquito net. The shower has only cold water but it's hot enough you wouldn't want a hot one anyway. Alfons and the others at Mama Roos were very friendly and organised a guided walk into the nature reserve which was wonderful and we saw... More

They renovated some rooms and they are great! The rooms are spacious and very clean. The bathroom has a nice shower and toilet, only cold water but that's fine since its really hot. The food is great. Western breakfast and lunch and dinner is local food and absolutely delicious! Big portions too. Alfonds and the others are very friendly and... More

Stayed one night at Mama Roos. The rooms were rather basic. Only cold water. The bed and mosquito net were good. They offered two meals, a hearty dinner (Indonesian food) + a breakfast (tea, toast, jam, butter). The reason we came to Mama Roos were the walks. They were amazing.

I spent just one night in this basic but okay guessthouse. When I arrived from Manado in the early afternoon I was welcomed by Ina. She showed me my room: a pretty large room, a double bed with a very thick (new?) mattras and mosquito-netting (see picture) and a chair. The attached bathroom was basic, with a western toilet and... For only 150.000 rp ( eur 10 ) p.p.p.d inclucing 3 meals, is this a good place to stay. Big rooms nice food and a perfect location, just in front of the NP entrance. The entrancefee for Tangkoko NP is recently dobbeld to 100.000 rp p.d.
