What you should know: - Do not exchange money at the airport. Wait till you get to the hotel. There are many little places right near the hotel that have decent exchange rates. It was 39 pesos per dollar by the hotel and 33 pesos per dollar at the airport. They are even open on Sundays. - When you exchange,... More

As for the room, the scuffed and scratched tile floor from the 1970s was dusty and peppered with beach sand. The tub and bathroom floor had coarse black hair from a previous guest spread about them. One of the bath towels had foundation or dried blood smeared on it. The closet doors, bedframes, and lampshades on the interior sides were... More

There was an incident during dinner at the buffett restaurant in which I was at the front of the line directly in front of the cook. He refused to acknowledge my existance and the existance of other white people. He first served the Spanish speaking people and Dominican people. He also served the black Americans that were with Dominican friends.... More

I payed a tiny bit extra to stay here over Sosua Bay thinking there would be a difference. If there was I didn't notice. The rooms are the same but a little further from everything with the exception of the kids playground. Everything was nice the rooms were comfortable the pool was clean, the bartenders were friendly. I took advantage... More

I spent 10 days with my husband, my mom, mother in law and my 18mo baby. We all had a blast. My husband and I spend most of our time scuba diving, the hotel has its own scuba place called superior dive, we got our advance open water certification there, it was a great experience, the staff, the places and... I had a great time at this hotel. It is right on the bay with a great view. Rooms were real nice (shower wasn't the hotest but, that is the only problem that I encountered). It was located not too far from the bars, clubs, resturants etc. The restaurant was nice, service was great. I had a great time being... More

Victorian House and Sosua Bay Beach Resort share the same grounds and amenities. Victorian House is a colonial property that has been refurbished and converted into a hotel and Sosua Bay Beach Resort is a new hotel. Staying at either hotel gives guests the same access throughout. We stayed at Victorian House and had a nice one bedroom unit. The... More

We stayed here on an RCI trade. We booked a 2 bedroom unit. They said they only had one 2 bedroom unit and this one needed refurbishing. It had no views and the patio was right where all the workers walked to into their workplace each day. We asked to be moved to another room, since they had no other... More

Don't need to exchange your us dollars for pesos right after you arrived at the airport Puerto Plata. It is expensive in the airport. The resort has a bank counter for you to make exchanges. There is no way you can get to the resort except taxi, which charges us$25 from the airport to the resort, although it is only... More
