I just returned from Cabarete and was very happy with my stay at Alegria. The staff were very friendly, the service was great and, as a solo traveller, I felt a great sense of security. Many of the guests I met were returning customers. The hotel is away from the noise of central Cabarete nightlife, but still less than a... more

My niece had her birthday while visiting here on vacation, so I wanted to have a nice celebration for her. I contacted Silvia to see if we could have the party in the Alegria restaurant, and the response was “Of course!” We gathered around the bar as we arrived, to mingle and have a pre-dinner drink, and then moved to... more

My friend and I rented the two bedroom apartment for a week. I have some dominican friends that love to cook and they prepared meals for us a few nights. It was great having a little kitchen and spacious dining table. Janet's grocery store is close by. The hotel restaurant serves a really tasty breakfast. We ordered "Grandma's Best" a... more

This little gem was the bright spot of my stay in the Domincan Repbublic. The staff were very friendly. The accomodations were a little run-down, but very quaint. The best part was one whole wall of my room was made up of 2 sets of sliding glass doors which opened up to a beautful view of the ocean. The rooftop... more

Just returned after 2 night stay at the end of our mission trip. Owner Michael was very accomodating and even allowed us to store our baggage in his personal room on our last day. Thanks Michael! Hotel restaurant was very inexpensive. Food and drinks were top quality. Service was excellent! We were able to enjoy a great meal with our... more

I found this hotel on Active Cabarete back last March and over the last 9 months I've stayed here 6 times for 2-3 weeks at a time so I am probably more qualified than most to talk about this location. I will tell you what is great and what is not about Hotel Alegria, I am currently staying here now... more

Management response from

A reader might find it strange that a guest would come to a hotel six times in a period of a year and then write a negative review. Suffice it to say the guest's behavior had gotten to the point where we invited him to leave early, offering to write off the remainder of his bill if he would do...

I stayed at the Alegria Hotel for 7nights over New Year. I was looking for rest and relaxation. Although I had stayed in Sosua many times, it was my first time to Cabarete. Cabarete was nice but what really made my trip was the staff and management of the Hotel Alegria. As a single travelor, I was welcomed and treated... more

Spent 10 days at hotel Alegria and I found it to be as advertised with an added charm and character. The staff is attentive and friendly. The quaintness of the property, along with all night security made a single traveler feel safe and comfortable. The restaurant and bar served locals as well as patrons and made for interesting conversations. This... more
