Leave your America expectations and remember where you are. Hotel is an older facility but functional. Beware of the elevators. They usually broke down at least once a day but I am a stair person so this was not an issue for me. The food was excellent although the meal times seemed to be very flexible according to when the... Rooms have broken mosquito nets, ants/bugs inside, Internet is very hit and miss. Breakfast is good at the cafe though. Beach is dirty and very sandfly infested. Very nice staff that works hard, but has little power to affect the poor situation at the hotel. Check in check out takes FOREVER as they only have one computer....oh and they dont... More

We were on a family trip in the southwest of the island and decided to stay overnight at the hotel. Excellent care and service since we call 45 minutes before arrival. I found the price a little high, but the other option was to drive 3-4 hours on a dominican highway (8pm). No hot water and the AC was not... More

This is a terrible hotel. So old that nothing works properly, elevators cant shut the doors completely; air conditioning system does not work at all and they have installed individual old ones that make a tremendous noise throughout the night; staff is rude and the electricity power keeps going on and off, during my one night stay (there were suppose... I was driving pass the resort and noted that the Canadian flag was upside down. Most people from other countries may not know which way the red leaf is suppose to be positioned. I stopped and went into the beautiful lobby and through a Spanish interpretor was able to express my observation. We asked permission to view the resort and... More

This hotel is right next to the beach and it's a very nice and pretty beach. My room was not bad, but the bathroom was not very clean. The beds were a bit on the uncomfortable side. The AC was super loud so maybe bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper like me. Most importantly, make sure you spray... More

Don't expect a 5 star hotel and you won't be disappointed. Recently stayed there two nights. It is definitely the nicest place in Barahona and I'm thankful for it. Staff is friendly and attentive. Breakfast bar is good for the Dominican Republic. We wanted to eat dinner there as well but the music blaring in the restaurant made us decide... More

I have stayed here several times and always find it clean, modern, and the staff very helpful and pleasant. It is an American style hotel because it is owned by an American who spends a great deal of time and money making in modern and comfortable by those standards. Many of the medical teams in the area on missions stay... More

A dozen years ago we had enjoyed dinners in the open air dining room of the Riviera, now called Costa Larimar. It was our heart's desire to stay here and enjoy a few days of visiting friends in Barahona. The hotel is older but well maintained. The lobby is newly redecorated and is beautiful. I will warn you: not ONE... More

We ended up one night only in Barahona returning from Pedernales (Baya de Las Aguilas). Since it was too long to drive from there to the Capital, we decided to have a stop in Barahona, 3 hours drive East from Pedernales. The Hotel is great, it got a nice pol, rooms are clean, staff is smiling; wifi is in the... More
