I stayed 4 nights in Dec 2015, I had a small room the a/c, it was a window type and was huge for the room, so it cooled the room off quickly. I had a nice, comfortable and quite stay, I think the hotel has 9 rooms with 2 floors, I stayed on the 1st floor. All the employees were... More

Loro Tuerto is a really charming small hotel close to the bus station in the city center. The rooms are modest but clean and the stuff was nice and helpful. A big plus that guests can use the kitchen and there was bottled drinking water available for free. Definitely worth staying while in Barahona!

First of all, if you haven't been to to the DR you need to recalibrate your expectations: Standard seems to be no hot water, bad pillows (basically a limp empty pillow case), scant service, no one speaks English (or wants to try), no credit cards accepted (Pesos only), one towel a person and you have to beg for a replacement.... First I have to say that this is a small modest hotel in the center of Barahona, do not expect all the luxuries and accomodations of an all inclusive resort. That said, it is very clean, comfortable enough, has all you need for a night stay. Very relaxed atmosphere, has lots of character, the proprietor and the staff is very... More

We arrived in Barahona to visit the nearby NP's Jaragua y Isla de Cabritos. unfortunately we could not afford the $90 2 hr. boat ride in Jaragua and on our way to Isla there was a roadblock with fire and large rocks with angry, young men not allowing our guagua through. There is little tourism infrastructure in this town and... More

The hotel is located in the centre of the town, near all necessities and the bus station. It has a nice atmosphere, rooms are OK. The staff tried to be helpful but was very slow. Twice we asked for a breakfast at 7 o'clock and twice it was ready with a 45 minutes delay. Quite annoying when you have a... More

I wanted to explore the South of the country and relly I wasn´t disappointed, but it isn´t for the fussy, it is for the adventurers. The Hotel Loro Tuerto is ideally located, just a few minutes walking from everything. The staff is kind and helpful. My room was fresh and clean, and all the hotel has a truely unique atmosphere.... If you have a reason to visit Barahona then I would thoroughly recommend this hotel where my husband and I stayed for six nights. The town itself doesn't have much to offer but the Hotel Loro Tuerto is a lovely, tranquil oasis. The rooms are basic but clean and they all overlook a very attractive courtyard where you can sit... After visiting Barbados and Guada I discovered Barahona, and stayed for a week in Loro Tuerto. Bungalow 9 became my home in the Caribbean
