I stayed at the Hotel Sofia Pachuca for one night in January 2009 because I wanted a good hotel close to the town square, rather than out on the highway. The whole hotel has the feel of an excellent little European hotel, with small but well-designed reception and breakfast areas, small elevator, and a floor plan which winds a bit. But my room (with kingsize bed) was unbelievable: enormous, very stylish, and with two big windows which looked out on a beautiful view of downtown Pachuca and mountains. It is just a 2 1/2 block walk to the Plaza del Reloj (the town center), and is located just up the hill from this plaza between the plaza and the university. The attendants at reception area are warm, personal, and friendly. Breakfast is not included in room price, but as usual for Mexico has great fresh fruit and hot dishes.
