Poonagun Hotel is an OK middle class hotel at rasonable prices (720 Baht for a room per night). Location is not very convenient as there are not many bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Rooms are clean and have nice small balconies. A bit strange is the big window from the room to the pathway where everbidy can follow your... More

I have stayed at the Poonnagunn on many occasions. It is an outstanding hotel in so many levels: service, rooms and an amazing breakfast buffet included (you MUST try the home made jams)! What's changed? Just that having got to like the vibe closer in more, I like to be able to walk around and do the markets in the... More

Four times I stayed at Poonnagunn. Good mattress, clean room and hot shower. I like the duvet provided for the bed. Cable TV has some channels in English. At night the place is silent and I always enjoyed a good night sleep. Breakfast is decent including fresh fruits, home made jams and filter coffee. For dinner, you need to walk... More

I stayed in this hotel for two nights with a group. The check in and out was really quick and we were all given rooms in a row, next to each other. The room is new and very clean and the bed is comfortable. The amenities are good too with tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries and even an umbrella... More

After living in Myanmar and staying in many regional Myanmar hotels, I was surprised at just how similar this place felt to some of the more "upmarket" accommodation options in Kayin and Mon States, Bago Region or elsewhere across the border and less like places I've stayed at in the more touristy parts of Thailand. Like many places on the... More

It's a great hotel and my favourite in Mae Sot. I go to Mae Sot a couple of times each year. Personally stayed here a few nights, but our NGO is here many times a year, along with ALL the other NGOs visiting Mae Sot. Very clean, very night and amazing staff. I love the breakfast and sometimes go for... More

My wife and I travel to Mae Sot every 2nd weekend to stay for a few nights while we do our shopping and have a break from the little village we live in (we live 2 hours north of Mae Sot). The Poonnaguun is amazing. Great staff, very clean rooms, excellent breakfast, comfy beds and serviced each day (not all... More

A very nice, spotlessly clean hotel on the edge of town, just off the roundabout where the road comes in from Tak. Not all that close to the centre of town, but most tourist sites are out of town anyway. Nevertheless, the hotel is best suited to those with their own transport, I guess. That said, it was excellent, and... More

Poonnagunn has friendly helpful staff, clean nice bedding, cool tile rooms, all necessary amenities. The included breakfast buffet is widely considered to be the best in Mae Sot. The only drawback is the distance from city center. Not much of interest in walking distance. Very convenient for business travelers who will be dealing with one of the many NGO offices... More

I didn't expect much when arriving but the rooms were remarkably clean and spacious. The beds were firmer than I'm accustomed to as an American but this was my favorite stay during my weeklong trip in Thailand.
