Last time I was in Chiang Saen, I had stayed elsewhere but had called in to Gin's Maekhong View Resort just to see what it was like and was impressed. This time I stayed for three days at the end of January. I'd driven from Chiang Rai and arrived slightly early, around 1115hrs to be greeted warmly by the manager,... More

I thought it was a bit expensive, but the rooms in the new (big) building were very nice, spacious, clean and fresh, so we stayed 3 nights. Unfortunately the huts closest to the river were booked out, but my glimpse inside one suggested they are nicely furnished and maintained. The whole complex has good vistas of the river, which are... I live 20 km from Chiang Saen which means I go there quite often. Have eaten at most of the restaurants along that stretch of the river and have found the Maekhong View to be one of the best but it is the most expensive [tourist prices] Has a very pleasant terrace which overlooks a well manicured garden with pool,... Cannot share bad reviews. We liked this place a lot! Stayed two nights in a "love hut" by the river, with a large wooden terrace (with nice garden furniture) facing the mekong and a sunflower field. You can sit in the evening and watch the boat traffic on the mekong - very relaxing. Unfortunately no moskito net, but is necessary... More

My wife and I ate at this restaurant back in febuary 2013.When I saw today that it was rated #4 in Chiang Saen,it was time to write my review. We had intended to go to another restaurant further away from Chiang Saen, but it was closed, and on the way back we saw the Maekhong View Resort and Spa.There is a deck... This was the tiniest portion of spaghetti I ever had. The tomato sauce was actually quiet good, apparently home-made, with fresh tomatoes, garlic and onions. But how can a restaurant serve such a minuscule portion to a paying customer, I wonder? Did they run out of pasta? Speaking of which: It was badly overcooked. The straw which broke the camel's... We stayed for one night in Jul 2013 in the Maekhong View Room (201). This air-conditioned double room was good value at the 1000B/night low season rate. The hotel is very new, spotlessly clean and a tasteful blend of whitewashed concrete and dark wood. It's right on the bank of the Mekong in the sleepy town of Chiang Saen, with... More
