The place is simply a large home converted by the owners to a modest lodge. The owner is a friendly chap who will engage you in simple conversation. The area is strictly residential and dogs prowl at night so best to stay indoors by dark. The time we lodged, it was so difficult to call the attention of the management.... More

We reminded our concierge to be more alert while waiting for guests coming in late at night . Our apologies for keeping you at the gate. The good news is that our village officials have erected more street lights from the main gate to our lodge and we are replacing our directional signages to make it easier for our firstimer... More

Our only regret here was that we couldn't stay for longer!!! Joe was a great host and his dog Noah was very friendly. The room was very comfortable (complete with small TV and good channels!) with a really nice ensuite bathroom that Joe had designed himself with natural rocks etc. Free tea and coffee facilities and water dispenser too, which... It's a toss up between balay dela rama and balai tinay. We ended up with the latter which proved to be not a bad turnount. Not at all. Manoy is right. Don't judge it by the drab yellow gate. The common area has impeccable design. Capiz adorned ceiling. Solihiya divans. Artificial ponds dot the area. Refreshing. We were assigned Room... More

This is one review i hate to make because the staffs/owners are really great people and very accommodating. We booked for 3 nights, march 24-27, 2014 via Agoda. We decided not to stay because the minute i got in the gate i smelled dog although i haven't seen one yet. Then had allergic reaction, my eyes started watering and i... More

We regret this incident of a guest not availing the facilities paid for and it has been the policy of Balai Tinay Guesthouse to make refund if guest fails to avail but management was not afforded time to make this amend as our guest left so suddenly. Indeed, we keep a spitz-shitzu cross at the residence of owner at the... More

We went to legazpi not knowing where to stay. But since I been reading reviews here in tripadvisor. And came accross this guest house somewhere in Legazpi had good reviews from previous guests. Thought I'll give it a try and lucky enough when we got there they have vacancy. We book it right away without hesitation. It did not dissappoint... More

We stayed at Balay Tinay for a total of 4 nights for 950 peso per night and got the best possible value for money. We have been traveling around Asia for over 4 months and this was without a doubt one of top 3 places we have stayed at so far! The first three nights we stayed in the double... More

Staying at Balay Tinay is literally like having a refuge. We went to Legaspi in the most inopportune time because for straight 3 days, it was rainy and the wind was strong. I'm a local and fairly know where to go but with such a weather, staying at Balay Tinay made it so comfortable. I like the fact that the... More

First i would like to give a big thanks to the own of this guesthouse JOE! We booked one night in Balay de la Rama. However, when we arrived at Legaspi, the owner of Balay de la Rama told us the hotel room has been overbooking and there was no room for us to stay that day. And he said... More

Our stay at Balai Tinay for 3 nights/4days was one of the most enjoyable moments we had in our life with my High School friends (LBMHS batch ‘78), a sister and my two daughters. Thanks to Kuya Joe, the owner of Balai for being hospitable, hotel service is extremely good. Unlimited coffee and cold water for free located at the... More

my husband and I we're first time traveler at Legaspi, we arrived at the City past 10am due to delays we got from Isarog Bus line. hard to find at first but basically the place is known by many bystanders and pedicab drivers. We met the owner, Joe and tour us to the available rooms, luckily, we're the only guests... More
