The resort was built in the 80's. The rooms have gone old and due to lack of upkeep look shabby. Everything is centralized and staff do not know how to respond to your questions. The food is below average. The only good thing is the view it has due to its location around the Lower Kachura Lake.

It has been some time when I visited this place with a group of friends. It is called the most beautiful man made thing on earth but I am sorry I don't agree at all. The surrounding were breathtakingly beautiful but that was all. Stay in this hotel or whatever you may call it was a nightmare. The rooms were... More

Traveled for almost 8 hours to reach here from gilgit and living in a terrible room, landscape is good, rooms really need some maintenance. Even the mattress is something like 10 years old with stains on it. Bad experience.. I suggest it for a tour only,, its not a good place to stay,

Shangrila resort, skardu (an international award winning resort) has always been a nice place to stay whether one plans to roam around or just stays within the resort. Lawns are beautifully maintained besides lower kachura lake having beautiful sight of surrounding peaks. Jeeps can also be rented through the hotel reception and local drivers are also present within the premises.... More

Went in 1999. The flight to Skardu was scarey flying between the 3 mountain ranges. The pilot made an announcement that if there were any foreign visitors who would like to take a view from the cockpit to come up. Those were the days!!! The whole area is unbelievably beautiful. Shangri-la itself was in poor state of repair, food not... More

I stayed at Shangrila Skardu for 3 nights with family, in the Swiss Cottage. Yes, the rooms were shabby, and probably not worth the price, but they were clean. Yes, hot water was available only at set hours, but how many baths do you want to take in a day? And yes, our room did not have a fan so... More

Rooms were last done in the 1960s I suspect, and same with bathrooms. Water is brown coming out of the taps. No heating. Hot water only first thing in the morning for 1 shower and evening at 7pm for one shower. Often no electricity for hours on end and they wont switch on the generator as it is too costly!... More
