Our small tour group stopped by here for lunch while touring. The lunch was delicious and served with a flourish in, I assume, traditional laquerware cones, see photographs. The view from the restaurant was stunning, of the pool, grounds, bungalows. Service was excellent, the food very good. Wish ewe had more time to explore, but had to get back on... More

Stayed 2 nights while in Bagan - lovely property with the most stunning view. Rooms: Stayed at a villa quite far out from the lobby area, secluded and peaceful but the walk got a bit much at night... Service: Kind and friendly staff - check in took a while and it got slightly frustrating but they were helpful nonetheless. Overall:... More

I'm doing an expat job in Singapore, and me and my family have traveled extensively in Asia. As we have 3 small children, we're very picky as to where we stay, mostly Western chains. We stayed in the river view suite for 3 days, a few steps away from the wonderful pool. They also have bungalow and suites farther away... More

The best aspect of this hotel is the lovely gardens complete with hollyhocks and nasturtiums running down to the large pool overlooking the river. The rooms are in prefab-type square bungalows, split into four rooms with unnecessarily large verandas. These are large but fairly Spartan and despite the space, there was the usual minuscule wardrobe so we had to festoon... More

Service and facilities are great (especially the pool), but I would avoid eating here. Was there and saw a large group of which almost everyone got food poisoning. We expect that this was a one-off due to uncleanliness of the kitchen, but hopefully the resort upgrades these cleanliness standards.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this resort to anyone. We brought a large group (about 25) and about 20 of us came down with violent food poisoning after eating at their restaurant for dinner – one I understand, but it is ridiculous that 70% of our party came down with food poisoning in a group this large. Most of... More

Not too far from all the temples and a great place to escape if you find yourself tired of visiting temples. Swimming pool excellent. Breakfast just soso. Dinner in the outdoor restaurant is pleasant although the food is grossly overpriced and portions are not generous.

A great place to end a long vacation. The hotel is great, the food is great, the pool is great, the access to the sites is easy. A very relaxing place with lots of sites to see as well. And, of course, the people were fantastic.

Great pool, decent rooms, great location, but none of that is worth two days of awful food poisoning (in my group of 25, 17 had it). They need to take Western standards to their kitchen if they're going to charge Western prices.

Bagan Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort regrets any discomfort or inconvenience that our valued guest had to endure during his stay with us. We have investigated the complaint, and we are afraid that here has been a misconception about food poisoning. Last week our restaurant served 70 people a day on average, but we did not get any other complaints of food... More

Cottages with a verandah to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We were touring all day and returned for a quick rest before dinner. Our stay was too short and we did not have time to enjoy the pool with a view but we did enjoy their breakfasts. Dinners were served outside and we could relax and enjoy the marvelous views... More
