Umbra is a really lovely hotel in a fantastic location, right in the temple zone. We hired electric scooters at a reasonable price from the hotel and were lost in a land of temples within minutes. The hotel pool is amazing and has a view of the hotel's very own Bagan temple. The welcome is warm and friendly in their... More

We booked a double bed Superior room through hotels.com but we've got 2 single beds in a standard minus! We asked for correction, but the reception said no double bed superior room available! The bed we can accept but the room is so tired and old, it's out of the Asian ark! The worst part is the bathroom! Too difficult... More

Diffult to give a statement for this place. We had a standard room which honestly has a poor quality for this price (50USD). But the pool area is not that bad and if you skip the pagoda sunset thing and spend your afternoon at the pool enjoying a drink it is not that bad. Another good thing is the absolutely... More

Stayed in February for our first exploration of beautiful Bagan. It was a comfortable stay in a nice room but some frustrations took the shine off. The best rooms, in the new block - Grand Deluxe - are reasonably priced for the area. You kind of get what you pay for, as the service and facilities are a step away... More

We stayed in a Grand Deluxe room for 2 nights in February and definitely have mixed feelings about the property. Both my fiance and I have been living in South East Asia, him for 7 years, and me for 3 years, so please take the review with that in mind! Pros New rooms are very nice and modern, with good... Out of all the hotels in Myanmar at which we stayed, Bagan Umbra was the one for which I had the lowest expectations. In fact, I was not looking forward to staying there (due to some negative reviews) and I had only booked it due to most other hotels being full (February is peak season). When we actually came to... The Hotel is located 15 mins away from the airport (perfect for those early Morning flights!) but feels quite central - in the middle of old and new Bagan. It's built amongst the temple ruins and you can see these temples from your room, pool and bar. What a sight! We booked the grand deluxe room as it was great... More

We stumbled upon this gem after a drunken 9 hour boat ride from Mandalay: we asked the taxi driver to take us to some of the hotels listed in Lonely Planet but they were all fully booked. Fortunately there were rooms available at the Umbra hotel, and we were in for a right treat! Ok so first up - there... More

Stayed 5 nights at Bagan Umbra which was probably the best hotel experience on my 2 week trip to Myanmar. The hotel was recently renovated and a new wing added along with an infinity pool and outdoor dining area. We stayed in a Superior room which is mid-grade towards the back of the property. While the furniture and bathroom was... More

Stayed 4 nights in a Standard room while visiting Bagan and I truly enjoyed my stay. I was perfectly happy to stay in the standard room but they do have more expensive / upscale rooms as well. Hotel is conveniently located near temples, Old Bagan and Nyaung-U town. Plenty of restaurants and few shops can be found within a walking... More
