We stayed here for two nights before continuing to Pulau Weh. The hotel was okay, staff was quite friendly but also stared at us in a very open matter and laughed because we were western. But this happened everywhere in Banda Aceh.. We got a room in the fourth floor which was old and smelled like cigarettes. Luckily it was... More

Stayed here for a few days on the way to and from Pulau Weh in a family room. Room was clean and opened onto a verandah walkway overlooking the Rex food centre. Had air con and TV which we hadn't had for quite a while so nice. Breakfast limited but ok. Lots of nice food stalls around the area at... More

Very simple hotel in heart of Banda Aceh. We picked it as there was aircon and own bathroom. But that's pretty much all the good things about this place. Staff in reception weren't too helpful and friendly and time has worn the rooms by now. It's very basic hotel, nothing really wrong with it. But I think it's over priced.

Staff obviously laughed at us because we were two Western tourists. Simple room. Strange tiled walls like a bathroom. Drab curtains closed with mirror placed in front of window. In hotel-restaurant the cook could be heard coughing and scraping his throat while preparing our food. (We were only two guests in restaurant).

The hotel does not function efficiently. We checked in late at night. The internet was not working due to a malfunction of a floor router. I called the staff at the front desk. Someone came up later but had limited knowledge of re-setting the router. There was no hair dryer in the room. I had to call the front desk... More

This place just about does the job, it is more suited to business travellers though than families or tourists. They did not respond to email so couldn't book and we were told the family rooms were full when we arrived. Standard room was ok though but the wifi did not work in it, location pretty good close to the night... More

As I recall, I emailed from Pulau Weh to reserve a room with hot water that was a few dollars more than one with cold water. Instead they gave me a room with cold water that looked like it had been underwater when the tsunami hit as it was on the ground floor BUT attempts to rip you off is... More

The Medan hotel is horrible. 250, 000 per night? No thanks. We could see why the breakfast was free. It all looked like yesterday's dinner. The rooms looked tired and institutional. The towels and linens were clean but old. The staff were helpful, but oblivious to the general state of the place. Even if the usual clients are locals, why... More

. Had a brief look at Hotels Wistana and Prapat in the same road before we chose the best of the three-Hotel Medan It is an impersonal looking 1960's style large hotel. Staff are pleasant but not overfriendly, and most speak very limited English-but then we only speak a few words Indonesian! We booked a superior room which on entering,... More
