Very nice hotel in a stunning location surrounded by terraces of paddy fields with a mountain backdrop. Food was very nice, there was an a la carte menu & one night we had a BBQ. Infinity pool with sun loungers made for a very relaxing afternoon. We had a large room with a traditional vaulted ceiling and a comfortable bed.... More

Make sure if anyhow possible that you are there in time to enjoy the generous pool with a very nice view and have some time to marvel the beautiful gardens. The rooms are clean and spacious with all the amenities one could wish for including a lot of mobile insecticides (aka geckos) and very nice beds. The breakfast is not... More

Well worth bumping along the dirt road to get to this lovely hotel. We had a delightful little house with steep roof and resident gecko, plus a covered outside area, attractively planted, for the loo and shower. The view over palms and paddy fields was magnificent. Gorgeous pool, too. A la carte is good, buffet just a bit less inspiring,... More

This hotel is set in stunning scenery and is very slow to get to as it's seven kilometres up a broken road that needs a four by four vehicle to travel on. The rooms are ok, but the food is poor quality and is charged at western prices. Atmosphere is a bit glum.

We use this hotel to visit the ijen crater, the hotel is located at the end of one of the worst roads that i had seen, a 4WD is required. Once you get there the views are trully spectacular, the check in is a desk in the entry stairs, good restaurant offering buffet and a la carte choices, the room... More

No deductions for the bumpy dirt road that leads to this paradise. Perched atop a hill, there are magnificent views from the restaurant and swimming pool and most of the rooms. Rooms are spacious, well appointed and clean. Dinner was a buffet with a very nice selection. I ate fresh salads with no qualms. Be sure to top the bananas... More

Whatever is lacking at this hotel is all forgiven once you take in the staggering location of this place. As has been said by so many before me, Ijen Resort is surrounded by the most beautiful scenery and I have to say I think our room (101) gave us the best view we have ever had on our travels. The... Quite possibly the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in, but hugely atmospheric as the noises were frogs, crickets and the five times daily call to mosque… If you don't mind showering outside, and you don't mind the farmers ploughing the paddy fields with water buffalo at 5am every morning this hotel is for you. The hotel, up a 3km dirt... More

Next to a volcano clouds gather in the afternoon and start producing rain by the time you like to swim. So whenever the sun is shining you should jump in the pool , alternatively stroll around the ricefields or simply back on the entry road. Watch the locals and use your camera. You can see farmers working with buffels in... More

The biggest strength of this hotel is the location and view. We had a room next to paddy fields and rice terraces, which for me was a novelty. The views were amazing! Unfortunately it rained so we could not swim. Apparently it is sunny only in March and April. Breakfast was more of a basic but better than budget hotels... More
