A vast hotel complex in a large garden in the centre of Nanning, next door to the pleasant People's Park. We were in building # 1. Large and comfortable room, well equipped (good free Wifi), perfectly clean and very quiet. The breakfast buffet (included in room rate) is extensive and completely Chinese in character, with no concession to western taste.... More

This is the VIP section of a larger hotel complex in downtown Nanning. It is older and of local historical value as Chairman Mao stayed here on occasion, and it is a typical place where foreign visitors are accommodated. Any of the old English-language reviews are obsolete because the hotel rooms meanwhile got completely renovated and refurbished. There are modern... More

The Mingyuan Hotel should be shut down for renovations. The rooms are smelly (moldy smell), the carpets are dirty and the furniture is beat up. The bathroom is poorly maintained, the tub had a grim ring around. They told me that the Mingyuan Hotel is a 5 star hotel, maybe but on a scale of 30. This hotel should not... More

If you are a frequent business traveler, heck if you are accustomed to decent hotels, I would not reccomend this place The facilites are very old and dated, from the lobby with torn furniture to the beat up and out dated meeting facilities. It is just not a good hotel by western standards. I guess it was at one time... More

You should try every effort to AVOID this hotel!! The room is smelly, you can find mold on the carpet and on the wall. The bathroom is poorly maintained and the towels are dirty. The corridor is dark, sticky and smelly too. I am not looking for something deluxe but just a room to sleep -- this hotel still fails!!... More

If you love nice hotels, don't go there! NEVER! Of course I didn't book it myself, because if you look at the pictures on the website and you are used to Chinese hotels, you will understand immediately what it can be like. And facts proved me true!! And I will tell you why... LOBBY: typical Chinese hotel lobby, want-to-be luxurious... More

I don't know how people find this hotel deserve even one star. Yes the hotel looks fine from inside. But going up to the room, the matress is like sleeping on wood or sleeping on the floor. Room service is aweful and they said there is breakfast included in the room charge. Next morning I went downstairs to what they... More

The rooms were clean and well kept. The staff was great and very helpful. We were adopting our daughter and the hotel staff already had a crib, clean drinking water available in our room at our arrival. We loved the location, very close to the shopping and park. Directly behind the hotel is the People Park a very quaint, beautiful... More

Don't be deceived by the picture on the website. You won't be staying there. Instead they will say that your room is in the other building around the back. Its far less luxurious and the bedrooms were univiting. The mattresses were about as comfortable as sleeping on the floor. However, staff were friendly, but I won't be going back.

I agree with reviewer April 2006, "not sure if this hotel deserves 5 star", but it's an excellent 4-star chinese hotel. Rooms are nice and clean. This hotel is located at 10 min walk from the main shopping area. The swiming pool is large, clean, outside the hotel, but nearby a road and is old-fashioned. There is a shuttle from... More
