We stayed at this lovely hotel with our family after a safari in Selous, we were welcomed warmly by Maura and shown to our pretty rooms, ours was one of the sea view bungalows and it was so nice, lovely colours, comfortable bed and lots of thoughtful extras like a bag for the beach and pool, beach towels and sarongs... We arrived at Butiama after safari in Selous. After the muted co,ours of the bush Butiama is gorgeous and bright. The bungalows all face a gorgeous view of the sea. The beach is very short stroll away. If you see anyone there it will be unusual. The staff at Butiama are we're very helpful and catered for our extremely fussy... More

We stayed for a few nights in one of the front row (beach view) cabins. The room was clean & comfortable and the large porch was great for lounging in the afternoon. The place wasn't very busy when we were there, so it was nice & quiet. There were lots of options for where to lay out & read -... More

Butiama Beach is the most relaxing place we have ever stayed. We spent four nights there in July after our safari in Selous and we could have stayed for two weeks. The beach outside the hotel is gorgeous with white sand and clear blue warm calm water. You hardly ever see another person around. There are plenty of lovely sunbeds... More

Truly a slice of heaven! The owners, Maura and Maurice have created a stunning garden which is on the seafront with individual cottages, which are all very spacious, ensuite with hot showers, looking out to the ocean, with beautiful outdoor terraces which include a sofa, hammock and deck chairs. Each cottage is decked in its own colouring of kakoi, which... More

It's hard to avoid the superlatives when writing about this venue because that's what it is, simply superlative. Imagine a Robinson Crusoe island with an army of super effecient man fridays. Coupled with dining out of this world, a management that bends over backwards to cater for your every need, the sea at your doorstep, sandy paths everywhere so you... More

We spent a week here after a week on Safari and we were in much need of rest and relaxation. This is a perfect spot for such non activities. The road to the hotel is a rough one but it was worth it to get there. There are 8 or 9 thatched bungalow/rooms, and all facing the Ocean and less... More

We spent 5 days at Butiama Beach Lodge and can't say enough good things about it! The attention to detail, phenomenal service, amazing cocktails, great food, simply stunning location... Honestly it is a little slice of heaven, the perfect place to relax and unwind from city life. Owners Maura and Moez could not have been more hospitable and nothing was... More

Friends of ours have been coming to Buiama annually for the past 5 years, and eventually encouraged us to join them for "the best diving experience." We were warmly greeted by Marao and Moz, the owners. From the moment you put foot on the resort you know you are in for a wonderful relaxing holiday. The staff were all very... More

Really lovely place to relax. Comfy bungalows with huge bed, mossy nets, and nice open bathroom. Lovely long sandy beach, and sea like a warm bath! Food is delicious, and a good selection of wine. My wife is coeliac (no gluten), and she was catered for with no problems. In fact, everything is done with a smile. Went snorkelling with... More
