We held our Annual General Meeting here, to get away from the hustle and bustle of the region. It was a great choice. The location is quiet, good for strategic thinking and relaxing. The view of the Volcano across in DRC Congo at sunset is incredible. The rooms are spacious and clean and the food true to Serena Standards in... More

I would only recommend this hotel if you're visiting the Lake Kivu area for a minimum of 2 nights. Having stayed at the Serena Hotel in Kigali, this is a huge let down in terms of interior, food, and service. However, it is the best hotel in the Lake Kivu area. So stay there only because you are visiting the... More

When I arrived at the reception and asked how much a room is, I was quoted “100 dollars a night” with two witness hearing. “Great”, I thought and booked for two nights. Judge my surprise when I was presented a bill of 400 hundred dollars at check-out, 200 dollars a night. I had misunderstood I was told, the rate was... More

In my experience the vast majority of hotels in Rwanda cater for either the backpackers, or the upper end of the spectrum. Hotel Serena was definitely the later. If you want a solid, safe choice, this is probably it. Food is mostly good, lots of sand, and the various extras that you might want from a hotel (bar, pool, etc).... More

We stayed here for a quick weekend getaway from Kigali. The rooms were cozy and clean, the staff was exceptionally friendly, and the food was awesome! Breakfast is covered by the hotel and is amazing and fresh. The dinner buffet is pricey, but fresh and delicious. They give you service while lounging on the beach. Very relaxing.

During my 2 months visit in Rwanda, I visited there with a friend. It is an awesome place for swimming. The food quality of Serena is awesome and the staff was very jolly and cooperative. It is a beautiful place indeed, but very far from Nyarutarama. If you don't want to travel for 5 hours (one side) continuously to visit... More

The rooms on the ground floor where I stayed for two nights were comfortable with good quality bed covers and pillows. DStv is available and so are the local channels. The food was good and so was the live band by congolese though they mispronounced luganda words when they attempted foreign songs

We didn't choose this hotel as it was part of a package to see the gorillas but it was worth the hour drive from the volcanoes national park. On arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink and incredibly accommodating reception staff who, on hearing of our very early departure time, offered us a packed breakfast. Unfortunately the weather was... More

The location of the hotel is very good and you will find most amenities available, the beach and pool are very nice, good for kids, we saw some running around. The restaurant was very good with excellent service, after a couple of days viewing gorillas, were the restaurants are not the best, we loved finding a place with good food.

The Serena is a bit faded, but still the best hotel in the area. Service is generally excellent, though the front desk seems to operate in slow motion. Internet access is poor and patchy. The food offering is a bit clunky and unrefined, but there are several decent options for vegetarians, and the terrace area is very pleasant for dining.... More
