This was what I was imagining a Moroccan hotel to be: lots of character, fun experience with good food as well. Most of the reviewers I see agree that they enjoyed the place also. There is nothing to see in the area around the hotel itself but we took a tour of the dunes and enjoyed a camel ride.

After a long scenic ride over the Middle Atlas mountains, the hotel was a wonderful reward. The bathrooms are outfitted with "fossil" sinks, the beds are canopied, rooms huge. The hotel itself is spread out, beautifully landscaped and excellent food. Entertainment on arrival was fun too. Beers were the cheapest food on the 13 day tour of Morrocco!

After staying at a dirty hotel in Marrakech, then pleasantly surprised in Boumalne Dades I didn't expect much from Erfoud. Well this is better that the Xaluca in Dades. Very tastefully decorated and spacious rooms with great beds. Thankfully we stayed for two nights and wished we were there more. The open plan with the bathroom gives it more charm... More

After a long drive from Oujda we arrived at Hotel Xaluca not quite knowing what we'd find. We needn't have worried, what a beautiful hotel. Rusticaly appoininted sprawling hotel set on the very edge of the town with direct access to the dunes. With no buildings more than two stories the various blocks created a village atmosphere that created a... More

This is a traditional Moroccan Kasbah hotel. Dancers and musicians greeted us on our arrival and while we waited to be allocated our room you could not ignore the wonderful exhibits of fossils which are mined from the local slate beds. The ambience of the hotel was of a Bedouin style with traditional carpets and wall hangings. Our room was... More

I have never been inside a traditional Moroccan's home so I have no sense of how it is normally furnished and thus the bedrooms here may be authentic. However, they struck me as a Disneyland version, way over the top with baubles dangling everywhere and lighting so subdued as to be suitable for a bordello. It struck me as a... More

Stylish, comfortable, good staff - and my young nephew would have killed for the bathroom sink made from a fossil bed! I would certainly recommend it for a longer stay - we were touring so only stayed one night.

First impressions area wow factor. Our rooms were off a kind of cloister style courtyard open to the sky. Rooms made to look very Bedouin with Moroccan patterned drapes and hangings around the bed. Two singles on solid slabs of stone. Ceiling lights woven shopping baskets with holes on the bottom. Slab floors. bathroom area just off main room. Stone... More

A lot of 5 star hotels in Morocco are characterless but this one was different. It had a wonderful Moroccan style, not only in the main reception rooms but also in the bedrooms. The bathrooms were well designed with curved walls to separate the shower and toilet area. The large pool was welcome after the heat of the desert.

Great place, but in a confusing sort of way. Staff were very helpfull, and understanding at my frustration over some missing luggage. It certainly wasn't theri fault but thet went out of theri way to tray and solve my problem for me. Room was clean and tidy in a very stylish traditional sort of way, but all our group were... More
