This is as far as you can get from the big hotels where you feel you are just another revenue generating guest You feel it when you come go this sanctuary. There is a lot of personality here! It is basic but lovely. For ex; The hot water for your morning shower is heated by a wood fire which Moses... More

The location is very pleasant and peaceful, with giraffe browsing among the acacia trees and zebra and wilderbeast grazing alongside horses and cattle. Directions from the gate were poor and it would not take much to erect a few sign posts on the property to make it easier to find the rooms - based on other reviews we were not... More

We were on a trip through Africa in December 2013 and January 2014 and had a planned stop-over at Sanctuary Farm on Lake Naivasha. It was so good that we changed our intinerary and decided to come back after our 2 week stay on the Kenyan coast for an additional 3 nights. On our first stop-over we stayed in the... More

For me this was "A once in a lifetime experience" - "like a dream come true". Fantastick atmosphere. Super food of top quality like on the best restaurant but with a personal local touch. The wiew with all the wild animals was fantastick.

This is a place we took family and friends who visited while we lived in Kenya. Wonderful little place, very authentic. By far the best food I got in Kenya (I am a vegetarian and there were many good options). The owners and staff are super friendly and they were quick to solve problems. Very close to many animals and... More

A very long overdue review as we have been coming to Sanctuary Farm quite a few times. This is also the kind of place you secretly hope nobody else will discover...:) The surroundings are gorgeous, the food is delicious, original, fresh and obviously prepared with love and care. The bandas/rooms are decorated with care and in harmony with the surroundings. As avid... More

Just lucky to be here over Christmas and the host laid on a splendid meal of ham and turkey (along with fresh cranberry sauce - YUM!). But the best was when the Xmas Hippo came up out of the lake to wish us Merry Christmas (from a safe distance). Sanctuary Farm is a wonderful working farm and game conservation area,... More

Stayed for two nts with family and children, nice but somewhat small rooms but clean and well staffed. Good for having as a base whilst touring the area. This the remains of a ex polo ground, with a lot of wild animals actually feeding right on your doorstep. You can even take a local tour on some of the ex... More

We very much enjoyed our stay. Sanctuary Farm is a very quiet and restful place from which to daytrip to the nearby parks. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. It was fun to be able to walk among all of the animals (zebra, wildebeast, water buck, impala-most everything except predators) and sit on the clubhouse veranda at the... More

My wife and I were looking for a break in our busy Safari schedule and Sanctuary Farm turned out to be the perfect place for this. We stayed one night and did nothing, unless you count wandering aimlessly amongst the wildlife and birds. We saw giraffe, zebras, vervet monkeys, wildebeeste, impala, pelicans, herons, egyptian geese, cormorants, etc etc. It is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Sanctuary Farm is a family owned farm consisting of 430 acres of pristine acacia forest leading down to the lake edge. 350 species of birds, a fantastic biodiversity including Hippo, Masaai giraffe, Buffalo, Waterbuck, Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Grants & Thompson gazelle, Dikdik, Bushbuck, Aardvark, Jackals, Bat Eared Fox, Hyena and Zorillas. In 2011 we converted a stables into ten beautifully designed contemporary en suite double and triple rooms each with their own private verandah. In 2012 we opened The Club House Cafe which has a fast growing reputation for fine dining. Our approach to food is to keep it simple, fresh and made from local produce as much as possible. We cook the produce of our garden, brimming with herbs, fruit & vegetables of exceptional quality. None of what we have achieved would have been possible without our friendly and helpful team, most of whom grew up on the farm. ... more   less
