We stayed two nights at Elsamere when visiting lake Naivasha and going to Hell's Gate. The lodgings and meals are very good, and the small museum with details of the lives of George and Joy Adamson are fascinating. A highlight is seeing Joy Adamson's art work up close. We were entertained by the monkeys in the trees and the Hammerkop... More

We wanted to stay on Valentines eve but arrived too late so the gate guard turned us away even though it turned out, when we visited the next day, there had been space. We were so pleased we did return the following day because we had the place to ourselves all morning. The crackly old film was interesting, although I... More

Outstanding! We recently spent a week at Elsamere on the shore of lake Naivasha. Absolutely idyllic! We were superbly cared for by a most friendly and helpful staff who were also very knowledgeable about the local wildlife, and the history of Elsamere and its former owner Joy Adamson and her husband George. The range of wildlife in and around the... More

We stayed at in the dorms at Elsamere on our school geography trip and it was a good experience. The location of the place is spot on as it is pretty close to the lake. The staff are more than willing to help and I'm sure I received some really good hospitality in a long time. I wasn't feeling too... More

We took a drive from the hustle of the city seeking to celebrate Kenya at 50 differently and here we found exactly what we were looking for... The meals, service, ambiance, resident wildlife all seem to work together to give you an awesome time... Elsamere is up on my favourite list... its certainly a must do atleast once a month...... If you know about Joy Adamson and love lions you MUST stop here and if you can spend at least one night in this lovely place, Joy's & George's home! There is a fantastic small museum with original paintings and things owned by the Adamson's and a delightful garden to sit, relax & indulge in cakes and dessert at the... More

The rooms at this hotel are basic but clean. We enjoyed lunch outside facing the lake while the Colubus monkeys climbed the roof. The main lodge is decorated with Joy's paintings and she was a talented artist. Other than that, it looks just like someone's home and it felt like we were having dinner in Joy's dining room. Food was... More

The rooms are quite basic & in need of a bit of maintenance. The food was very good with a "home made" flavour. Deserts at lunch & the afternoon cakes were very good. We took the 1 hour boat ride but saw little wildlife in comparison to other places we had visited. A lot of pelicans, one pond of hippo's... More

We just spent 3 nights at Elsamere. For us it was perfect. It is the most beautiful place to stay on the Lake, the colobus monkeys, the birds in the trees and the daily migration of a Pelicans across the lake was breathtaking. The Hippos add to the fun! The staff are all warm and friendly. Each afternoon they bring... More

We stayed 2 nights at Elsamere. The rooms were modest and just okay for my liking, but what I did enjoy was spending time in the main house, which used to be Joy Adamson's home. It is decorated with many copies and prints of her artwork and photographs. There is a small museum which contains many many interesting items that... More
