Elsemere is a beautiful house and makes a nice hour or so trip. However, the whole premise of Joy Adamson's life was big cat protection. Big cats have never been in more peril than today and yet there is very little information on their plight, the challenges they face and how you can help. I can't help think that if... More

The Hotel is very nice located direct at the lake naivasha. During sunset you see animals walking thru the garden and at night you even see hippos. The rooms are very outdated and very dirty. The bed -sheets are showing the dirt from former visitors as they have not been cleaned since a long time (even blood and other stuff)... More

We stopped off at Elsamere on our way from Nakuru to the Masai Mara in September. I agree with the other writers that the place is very average. The rooms are very basic, the bathrooms even worse. The hot water in our room was so hot I nearly burnt myself. The food was okay. That aside, we came here for... More

Elsamere has a charm that can only be found in old movies. The staff were cheerful and helpful and accommodate a food allergy for meals. During our stay we watched monkeys take over a guests table (excitement pursued), hung out with zebras while watching the sunset, woke up to a giraffe outside the window, and heard hippos munching on the... As a trustee of the Elsa Conservation Trust I am pleased that you saw a variety of wild animals during your stay as we try to provide a safe environment for both wildlife and our guests. All the animals you see are completely wild and come and go under their own volition so cannot be guaranteed- but happily it is... More

We stayed only one night a elsamere but all the party of 4 regretted not having booked for a longer stay. The place is in a beautiful corner of Lake naivasha right on the lake shore and far away from all the greenhouses which dominate the landscape in some parts of the lake. The staff are very helpful and friendly,and... More

Thank you for your kind review. We have great pride in the peaceful environment that is Elsamere and the wildlife it attracts. I have to agree on your verdict about the food - excellent and plentiful it certainly is and a stay is also very relaxing. I hope you and your friends will come and visit us again soon and... More

My two girlfriends and I had tried to get a booking in Naivasha for the Easter week-end but all the hotels we knew had been fully booked. We were determined to spend the week-end in Naivasha so I requested DAAH Travel in Nairobi to help. They were great and came up with Elsamere which they highly recommended. We had heard... More

I just stayed for 2 nights - it's super peaceful - quaint... Colobus monkey on the lawns. Zebra grazing on the lawn at dusk, a creaky old dock on the water... felt like 1980. The rooms are spotless, clean and there's a hot shower. The rooms are dated like the house and museum, but it's supposed to feel tht way... More

Thank you for your tripadvisor review of Elsamere. Peaceful is the word most used by people who describe their experience of Elsamere and it is something we strive hard to preserve. It is the reason Joy chose this site, that and its beautiful location on the lake. Although we have chosen to keep the house( and rooms) as Joy would... More

We stayed two nights at Elsamere when visiting lake Naivasha and going to Hell's Gate. The lodgings and meals are very good, and the small museum with details of the lives of George and Joy Adamson are fascinating. A highlight is seeing Joy Adamson's art work up close. We were entertained by the monkeys in the trees and the Hammerkop... More

Thank you for your recent review of Elsamere. Like you my wife likes to sit on the lawn and sketch the birds, flowers and scenery of Lake Naivasha. We try hard to maintain the serenity of the grounds and to encourage wildlife to feel at home there so that our guests do as well. We are celebrating 25years of the... More

We wanted to stay on Valentines eve but arrived too late so the gate guard turned us away even though it turned out, when we visited the next day, there had been space. We were so pleased we did return the following day because we had the place to ourselves all morning. The crackly old film was interesting, although I... More

Outstanding! We recently spent a week at Elsamere on the shore of lake Naivasha. Absolutely idyllic! We were superbly cared for by a most friendly and helpful staff who were also very knowledgeable about the local wildlife, and the history of Elsamere and its former owner Joy Adamson and her husband George. The range of wildlife in and around the... More
