We got to Olerai just in time for tea and received a very warm welcome from Joseph the manager. We were shown to our room which was basic but spacious and comfortable. Our tea was laid out in the garden with a view of Mt. Longonot and zebras, gazelles grazing right in front of you. The walk around the facility,... More

This place was totally magical and we had a wonderful stay. Our room was huge and authentic with a bay window that looked out over the nearby grass with Zebra grazing and buffalo wandering. To wake up at 4am to find 5 grazing Hippo 3 metres from our window was a real treat. On one night we were taken out in... More

This property is so charming, although the drive to get there was torture with the dust and potholed road. We ended our safari with a stay here and were more than happy to just soak in the unique atmosphere of this private game reserve. The highlight was meeting Oria Douglas-Hamilton, the owner, who is full of beans and amazing tales.... More

We stayed here last week with my partner and my partners father. We were extremely disappointed with the general service from the staff - the stay was meant to include a game drive, bush hikes etc - there was no game drive and the bush hike was a walk to the lake and back with a very unenthusiastic guide who... This was my second time spending a night at Olerai. On the first visit was with a large group and suspected the poor service had to do with the size of our group. Not so...on this second visit there were few people and so felt compelled to write a review. The staff are poorly trained and offer little in the... More

We recently stayed with another family, taking three rooms for one night. We found the food was very good, fresh and well prepared and served beautifully in both the dining room and outside in the gardens. The rooms were ok, sometimes lacking in electricity, hot water and not up to the standards one would expect at this price point. Service... More

Fantastic place to relax between safaris with beautiful open fields and wildlife like giraffes zebra, antelopes, monkeys, and buffalo running through the gardens as you eat. The food is the best I have ever had and 5 star quality. You sleep in beautiful cottages surrounded by flowers and trees. This place is owned by the Douglas Hamilton family that also... More

Olerai House is very friendly and relaxing place. The food was absolutely delicious, home grown in the beautiful organic gardens and tasted so fresh leaving us asking for the recipes of many dishes. The accomodation was spacious and cosy at the same time, and the surrounding grounds and lake with buffalo, giraffe and zebra wandering round leads to a special... More

What a hidden paradise! We spent the most lovely weekend at Olerai. The food is brilliant - fresh greens and a selection of salads from their own garden brought to the table for a very personal touch. Vegetarians - have no fear.... my meat eating husband was also tempted by my vegetarian lasagna. The rooms are clean, have a personal... More

I arrived straight from the UK and after a fairly dusty bumpy ride from Nairobi to Naivaisha, we arrived at the peaceful Olerai, all calm breezes and dappled sunlight through the magnificent canopy of trees. I took a shower, had a delicious fresh lunch under the trees and slept for about 12 hours! Olerai is immensely tranquil, conducive to relaxation!... More
