Olerai is very simply built, but it is built by an artist (and possibly a genius) and is beautiful; the colors are brave and bold but they are not overwhelming, in fact they work to perfectly frame this unique place within its wild and otherwise untamed setting. The place is cosy and comfortable but yet you are always aware that... More

We've spent 3 days in Olerai house and loved every minute of it. Cosy, clean and comfortable rooms, where every little detail is thought through (hot water bottles at night, mosquito spray in the bedroom, gowns, toothpaste in the bathroom etc). Homey food, amazing grounds to explore, comfy seats dotted around the garden to snuggle in with the book, animals... More

During a project recently in Kenya, my wife and I drove up to Olerai House on Lake Naivasha. The grounds are stunning and the cottages are beautiful, tastefully decorated and maintained with loving care. As we had lunch under towering trees, we watched as giraffe and colorfully bright colobus monkeys played on the grounds. Simply put, the place is stunning... More

Everything at Olerai was wonderful; the food, the staff, the views, the rooms and the animals. Originally coming to Olerai for work (shooting a TV show), I would definitely come back to spend a few days during a holiday. I enjoyed the home grown and freshly made food, I enjoyed the very expressive and authentic rooms and dining area, I... More

We loved Olerai House! I went with a good friend for a mommy getaway (without our kids), and we had an amazing time. We loved relaxing on the grounds reading our books or chatting while the zebra and giraffe grazed around us. The food was delicious - best in Kenya! The service was incredible, too. The rooms were really lovely,... More

Awesome is such a misused word. Here it fits well! From the beautiful "hobbit-like" buildings with the unique and very decorative interior, to the good cuisine using all home grown vegetables and fruits. And, then the location - a quiet piece of paradise with lots of animals on the huge lot which seems endless towards the lake. The zebras and... More

Can't say enough about this beautiful place. We dined with zebras frolicking just feet away, giraffes passing by, and cheeky little monkeys trying to find a way to grab scraps. Amazing food, exceptional wine and drinks, and wonderfully attentive staff. We very much enjoyed the campfire at night, and the night guard showing us with his flashlight how incredibly close... Owned and run by well known conservationists (Save the Elephants, Elephant Watch) this place is a gem. Lush green grounds, tress covered in Bougainvillea, excellent food and service and teaming with wildlife. Have a tea and watch giraffes, Thomson’s gazelles, zebras, monkeys pass by. See the hippos a bit further down in the 400 acre property as well as water... More

A lucky coincidence led us to begin our 3-week African trip at Olerai House. The grounds are beautiful, with zebras wandering freely about and giraffes peeking their heads through the trees. There are no formal safari-type outings, but our guide led us on a wonderful hour-long walk in the surrounding area where we saw all sorts of animals and birds.... More

We got to Olerai just in time for tea and received a very warm welcome from Joseph the manager. We were shown to our room which was basic but spacious and comfortable. Our tea was laid out in the garden with a view of Mt. Longonot and zebras, gazelles grazing right in front of you. The walk around the facility,... More
