Spent there on a recent visit. The rooms are spacious and the staff really polite. The food was great and a wide variety. The place is serene and offers one of the best accommodation spots in Kisumu. My disappoint there was no hot water in the morning.had to take a cold shower.

The Nyanza club is an colonial style club / hotel, mostly frequented by Azians. The rooms are clean and the surroundings are nice. The restaurant is clean its meneu consists mainly of chicken disches. For the price you get a clean room and a good breakfast for the rest there are nice other restaurants within walking distance.

this is a hotel with very large grounds and facilities but needs some vibrant touch. the rooms are not bad considering the price. the swimming pool, cloakrooms in the common areas and the entrance to the rooms could use some renovations. the food is standard and the dinning room lacks character if you like old hotels then this is the... I am a regular guest at the Nyanza club. The Nyanza Club offers excellent sporting facilities and wonderful rooms for accommodation in Kisumu. The rooms have very good mosquito nets making them safe from the irritating bites. The swimming pools is wonderful. Breakfast is good. Wonderful breeze from Lake Victoria provides wonderful nights sleep in the very hot Kisumu climate.... More

I can understand the negative reviews for this club but you do need to be able to see past the shabby or perhaps almost derelict bits of the buildings. Rooms were clean with fresh sheets and towels soap and water in the room. Showers were hot and beds comfortable. After two stopovers on a road trip we preferred the charm... More

Stepping into the Nyanza Club feels like stepping back in time. Although a lot obviously hasn't changed in the past 50 years - the newer rooms are perfectly comfortable, the Indian food tasty and the secure street parking a relief after a long road trip. Have a drink by the pool and let the day slip by.

It may be old and worn but Nyanza Club had that old English social club charm. The old buildings must date back to the 30's with those heavy metal-framed windows and tall community hall-like ceilings. I rather enjoyed the charm reminiscent of the English summer fair community hall only minus the purple rinsed old ladies and their jams. My room... More

As others have mentioned, the Nyanza Club is a colonial-era private member's club which offers accommodation to non-members. Accommodation is in two blocks - the original wing and "new" wing (all relative, it certainly wasn't very new). I was there on business and stayed in the new block, since I'd been warned by a local that the original wing had... More

This was my worst stay ever at the Nyanza Club. Although the newly paved path from office to rooms is a big plus---no more slipping in the mud with your luggage---we lost water for two days and I only had cold water for another one (no hot water). Internet was out most of one night and parts of others. For... More

Friendly service in a decent location and spacious grounds, but not much more positive to say. Dining/breakfast room is very dark and musty, room furniture is old and worn. When seated on my bed a bat showed up from behind the mosquito net and started flapping about. Might not be a sign of great cleaning... Kisumu could really do with... More
