Poor service. People attending to us hardly put on a smile. The rooms looked liked they were from the 1980s with worn out furniture. Rusty shower equipment. Pathetic range and quality of food for breakfast. Noise from bodabodas and tuktuks just outside the street made sleeping difficult. Poor lighting in the corridors. Only thing that was good was the WiFi... More

I have been in and out of Kisumu Hotel on several occasions, mostly attending workshops and seminars. The hotel is too just ordinary and does not fit the pricing. My room was large but was located next to the maintenance department so i requested for a room change. The other room assigned to me had discolored water and the heater... More

Hotel is an old colonial hotel perched in the middle of Kisumu City in Western Kenya. The hotel is located in a good place, right in the center of town yet exclusive. The rooms are average in comparison to those in smaller hotels within the town. I usually stay here in my visits but occasionally have been let down by... More

Great location and big rooms but that is it. No energy at all from the staff. The wall to wall carpet in the rooms is no good and has stains all over, musty smelling rooms. Not at all inviting to stay after a hard days job in the heat.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on 13 December 2014. Having stayed here several times before, we enjoy the functionality and accessibility of this hotel to every corner of Kisumu and the airport at a very decent cost of USD 70 for a standard double room with ample secure parking. Also sandwiched between 2 trendy malls. Good and... More

Dear Daniel, We are extremely glad that you chose to stay with us while in Kisumu. Your feedback has been very helpful; good to know that you did enjoy your stay. We are looking to refurbish, this year, to give our guests a more current feel while retaining our very rich history dating to the 1950s. Perhaps when you visit... More

I stayed in the Kisumu Hotel (Maseno University) for two nights during a workshop with Kenyan partners held in the same hotel. I found the staff to be very friendly and the hotel to be quite good. The rooms were small but clean, with good mosquito netting above the bed. The mattress was quite hard, but I like that. The... More

Dear Boris, Thanks very much for taking time to review. Your choosing to stay with us was an honor. We are therefore very pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay. Much as friendly staff, clean rooms, working ACs, and sparkling swimming pool, among others, are indeed expected, it immensely pleases us to know that we actually met your expectations.... More

The phrase you don't want to learn is "hakuna maji" when you check in to a hotel. Meaning "no water". There are always water issues. I had a room with water but it smelled like a sewer! The beds are comfy and mostly clean but the rooms are bare bones. The a/c works sometimes. Many rooms are dark with windows... More

A/c wasn't working and my colleague was given a half warmed through tin of soup in the coffee shop. Not somewhere I plan to return to, although they did find a good car hire company to get me to Nakuru this afternoon

We arrived in Kisumu on 3rd June ...and stayed one day only. The rooms are tidy, but of lower quality finishing - old carpet, poor locks, hard mattress, toilet taking 20 mins to refill, loose taps, light not working, loose and poor window lock. There were no general information leaflets or fire notice (the fire point was near the room.... More

On the other hand, we apologize profusely that there were hiccups during your stay. We fixed the loose taps, window locks and missing info leaflets in your room same... More

This was one of the lousier places that I have been to. It does not offer much of the surroundings (it is close to the central place of the town where you can do the shopping and take a walk) and it is not far from the airport. The staff was hopeless (other than the guy who helped us with... More
